I was taking a dump one time and heard the toilet in the stall next to me flush and this big ol dude stands up with a cigar in his mouth. It was Shaq, it was one of the more awkward but cool moments in my life.

Years ago I used to work a few tournaments a year for CBS Golf. Primarily the International, Colonial, and maybe one other tournament. I was a spotter/scorer. We were connected to the Associate Producer in the truck and passed on yardages, order of play, and clubs if we could get it.
I worked the 1994 PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa. I think it was the Friday round televised on TBS and Chuck Will the Associate Producer in the truck had me on a par 3 on the front giving him clubs.
About midday (hotter than hell) I looked at the pairings sheet and saw Arnie's group was next to play the hole. As his group came up on the tee, the group in front hadn't finished playing the hole. I remember reading that tournament was going to be Arnie's last PGA Championship. He got some water from the cooler and was looking around. I looked at the green and they were still playing. I walked over and said Arnie, I know this is your last PGA and I just want to tell you how much of a pleasure it has been watching you play over the years and thanks for the memories. He looked at me and laughed and said does Bob Hope know you're using his material.
Of course, I cracked up, he cracked up, and the gallery cracked up. I didn't know it but the truck had us on the air live and could see everybody laughing. Of course I got asked what the #$%^ was going on. I summarized the story and everybody in the truck cracked up.
That's my one time personal encounter with The King.

Interviewed Bobby Hebert at a Northwestern State game few months after the Michigan Panthers won the first USFL title game. He was very cool about it, since our little campus 200-watt station wasn't going out to very many listeners.

1997. Joe Theisman was in my hometown for some non-profit stuff. My dad, being an LSU fan, gave me a note that said "LSU lost to ND in 1970 3-0. It won't happen this year!"
Theisman loved it. He gave his autograph and wrote "Yes it will!"
ND won the game 24-6

I used to get Tennis lessons after school once a week. The court I got the lessons on was always occupied by Joe Dumars before my lessons started. This was when Joe was thought of as one of best GM's in the league right after winning the title in 2004. One day he decided to stay after and hit with me, it eventually turned into a common occurrence. He is an amazing tennis player and a very nice guy.

I used to play pick up basketball with Brandon Bass little brother at my high school gym. Brandon played with us a bunch of times.
Sold popcorn to one of Shaqs friends when I was younger. It was the large popcorn in Death Valley. All I remember was the largest hand in the world grab almost every single piece of popcorn in one handful, or so it seemed. As this massive human being was walking away I realized it was Shaq.

Shaun Alexander. Spent a lot of time with him + family and he has stayed at my parent's house a few years ago. Great guy, outside of the whole going to Alabama thing.

I saw Tiger play at the Canon Cup junior tournament at the Air Force Academy in 1991. Earl was also there. To say that he was in his own world would be an understatement.

In the early 70's, my dad, brother, and I rode on an elevator with Muhammad Ali. No one spoke on the short ride. As we were walking away, my Dad said to us "Did you notice how he didn't mouth off to me?"
Good one, Dad.

I take it he was alone?
And your Dad has a sense of humor.

Met Kenny Rogers (Rangers pitcher) in 2004 when he was signing autographs during batting practice, very nice guy. Kameron Loe, Antonio Alfonseca, Michael Tucker, Runeivys Hernandez were also pretty cool people too (although I don't know if they can be considered "famous" as their careers were average/mediocre
)

I have two: Sat next to Bert Jones on a plane from Dallas to Baton Rouge. Asked me if I needed a ride home but unfortunately my boyfriend was picking me up at the airport.
When my son was about 12 we met Magic Johnson at the Maui Westin. He was there with his family so we didn't bug him for pictures. But when my son and a friend were playing catch with a football in the pool, Magic pretended to tackle him by catching his arm. Kid didn't wash his arm the rest of the vacation.
