You are not forgotten Jerry Sloan

He actually made playoff runs without tim?

So did BB
The pats have made one wildcard appearance since Brady left and got rolled by 30 points.
Spurs didn’t do much post-Duncan but they did make multiple playoff appearances and at least hilariously won that houston series in 2017 or whenever it was.

A- he made the playoffs 4 times in 9 years post Duncan, 0 times the last 6 years since losing Leonard who’s an elite player.
B- BB made the playoffs once in 4 years with a QB who’s barely in the league
Both have been sub .500 coaches since Duncan and Brady left only Pop had Leonard multiple years after.
Acting as if this is not a comparable situation is silly

Imagine if he didn’t inject his political opinions, could be viewed differently by a lot of people

I’ll take one for the team and just say “ok.”

His political opinions are exactly why he isn’t treated like BB in the media. They’re a bonus not an impediment.

I met him in public once. He was a very polite person. I had a sick friend who is a huge Spurs fan, and explained that to him. He told me to call her right then. He chatted with her, got her address, and sent her some signed Spurs gear. This was a chance encounter.
He’s not a dick. He’s a great coach who just happens to have some views I don’t like.

Not sure why having talent is a knock on a coach. In the NBA especially, you typically need HoF talent to win. The guy helped build a championship roster around Duncan, a 28th pick in Parker, and a late second rounder in Ginobili. I feel like that only makes him look better. He also flipped George Hill for Kawhi.
I know Pop wasn’t the GM the whole time, but let’s not pretend that he wasn’t essential in those moves.

Transitioning to Team President full time
Is this going to be more of a ceremonial position for him? With his health issues, I'm not sure why he would want to be seriously involved anymore. Or the Spurs, for that matter.

Probably so. RC and the GM will continue to run stuff.

Every time he’s credited like this, I think the title is telling me the headline is a sham.

He's proof you can be professionally successful and still a complete failure at life.
For all his success he's ended up a bitter, angry, crazy old man.
Meanwhile there's 76 year old pawpaws all around here that are still full of life and hope and joy.
If the best revenge is living well, the opposite of that is Popovich.
