Foreman was slow and his punches were wide. Skill wise, Tyson was way ahead of Foreman. Footwork, speed, movement, Tyson was better than Foreman in all of those.

About Evander, you're talking about a time when Tyson was way on the downside of his peak.

Prime Ali vs. Prime Mike Tyson

The age old question asked by people that never watched anyone but Mike Tyson ever fight.

Ali would mop the floor with Tyson. I freaking love Mike Tyson but he is arguably the most overrated boxer of all time. Every good fighter Tyson fought either beat him or gave him hell.

Tyson is maybe a top 10 heavyweight all time. That's incredibly impressive. Boxing has been around for a long time. But Ali is arguably the GOAT considering every single weight class and the best of the best when that division was as hard as it ever was.

I disagree… you think Tyson a better boxer than George Forman???… Forman beats Tyson 10/10 …

Downside of his career?? .., you know Tyson was 45-1 and 45-2 before both fights with Holyfield right??

Children who only know the way of the bully and crumble when confronted by the absence of fear, do not beat grown men, let alone the greatest.

Ali wasn't scared of Liston and made that bully quit...."Sonny Liston makes me look like a pussycat" - Mike Tyson.

OFFS people

Frazier gave Ali fits and I think he's the closest comp we have to Tyson

So? Frazier is arguably top 5 heavyweight all time. You know who gave Tyson fits? A lot of people, some of them being scrubs. And Frazier would out box Tyson 9 times out of 10.

Ali wouldn't shrug off some of Tyson's punches the way he did Joe's.

Ali shrugged off Foreman. Literally laughed at Foreman.in the ring. Foreman is probably next to Tyson in punching power. Obviously Tyson could get lucky and catch Ali just right but Ali can take a punch better than anyone and would outclass Tyson in everything else.

Fully aware of Tyson's record. He wasn't the same boxer after he split w/ Rooney. The quickness and the volume of head movement is the most glaring trait he lost after the split, which was huge for Tyson's style. He just wasn't the same guy anymore....well, that and all the personal shite up w/ him.

Tyson was absolutely more skilled than Forman. That doesn't automatically think he was a better boxer. There's a frame of mind that you just can't teach, and Ali and Foreman had it in spades. That would be, by far, their biggest advantage over Tyson.

To be fair, that was after prison and drugs fricked him up.

How was Holyfield “basically a middle weight?”

Or is this just an exaggeration that he fought as a cruiser-weight until the late 80s?

I would listen to arguments about him being in there over Ken Norton. But I would also listen to arguments for Sonny Liston being above him. And at this point I think Oleksander Usyk is for sure over him and is in the top 10 over Tyson, Liston, and Norton with potential to move up.

Ali easily.

Tyson was a mental midget. Pre-exile Ali was the best HW there ever was.

I debated on that one with Norton… I gave Norton the nod based on competition

When Ring magazine did the greatest 80 boxers of the last 80 years, Tyson was ranked #72, one spot behind Liston. Ali was ranked 3rd.

Frazier didn't fight Ali until after Ali came back from being banned and lost several years of fighting to stay sharp. Ali would easily beat Tyson since the stipulation says "BOTH IN THEIR PRIME".

I seriously doubt Tyson could have beaten Liston, the guy Ali---Cassius Clay at the time---- beat for the Heavyweight Title in 64.

Edited to add this: Give this some thought. Ali was 32 when he fought George Foreman for the title in 74. George was an undefeated champion with stupid punching power and yet Ali managed to KO him in the 8th round to win the title from him.

I seriously doubt Tyson could have beaten Foreman on any night if they were to fight.

The fight with Larry Holmes was one of the best I ever saw. And it hardly ever gets shown or talked about.

Talk about styles making fights. He gave Ali fits but was destroyed by big punchers…Foreman, Shavers, Cooney.

I always feel the same guys that think Tyson is the greatest are also the ones who think Bruce Lee was actually capable of beating any man alive.
