Tyson 3 years in Prison; he was 29 years old when released.

Ali was banned from boxing for 3 years and was 32 years old when he beat Foreman.

His win vs Foreman was impressive, but likely because of his age (my opinion). He was wise enough to win that fight, not physically dominant enough. I think if they had a rematch, it would have ended differently, but that is irrelevant.

Tyson not only went to prison, but probably more importantly, he lost Cus, which served as his brain. Tyson was a unique physical specimen, but he lacked the mental capacity/discipline to hang with other champions without Cus.

I personally view Tyson as the biggest disappointment. He MAY have had to ability to be the best, but he never realized his full potential.

Ali got away with clinching so he couldn't see Ali while he was punching him. Why his blows just slid off Ali. Ref stopped that crap in Thrilla and that was when Frazier started beating him up. A rematch would have seen a different Foreman. That rope a dope would not have worked. Ali tried it on Frazier. Instead of punching silly as Foreman did, Frazier just took his time and pounded his arms, sides, and stomach. Slowly and deliberately. Beat the hell out of Ali's body.

Tyson was like Connors until Ashe beat him. Just walking out on the court, opponents would crumble, such as the fear of Connors. Then Ashe beat him at Wimbledon. They weren't scared anymore. Once the top heavyweights lost their fear of Tyson, it was a different ballgame.

All true, but who stormed back in the 12th round and in 12 through 14 beat the ever loving s**t out of Frazier, knocked his mouthpiece into the cheap seats with one shot and came very close to putting him down?

Although I am glad it ended the way it did, Frazier was a good man and a true warrior and didn’t deserve to go out on the canvas.

And both of them should have called it quits after this fight but Ali had too many hawgs feeding at his trough and Frazier was too stubborn.

I don’t think many people could answer that question and that’s why Mike is kind of in a category of his own.

Won most of his fights clearly dominating with power and speed but rarely showed the true art of boxing.

Mike was a straight up street boxer and when he got into the ring with really good boxers he got into trouble.

But he was elite no doubt, if just due to the fact everyone knew that he could knock your arse out with one upper cut and you would wake up tomorrow.

The left hook Frazier hit Ali with in the last round of the Fight of the Century, no other human being ever born of a woman would have gotten up from that. Ali did.

What’s also often lost in the discussion of that fight is that even though Frazier absolutely, deservedly won, Ali beat the ever loving dogs**t out of him that night, did real physical damage to him, and IMO except for the middle rounds in Manila when he was fueled and driven by sheer animal hatred, Frazier was never the same fighter after that night.

True but no one knew frazier was already blind in one eye for years, including his trainer.

My point is a rematch would have been a much different fight

Cus died a year before he won his first world title vs Berbick. Parting ways with Rooney was his downfall.

Some people insist Liston took a dive in that fight. Look where Ali hit him, right in the temple, and look at the way Ali’s chest muscles ripple from the force of that punch. Liston may have decided to stay down when he hit the canvas, but that was no phantom punch that put him there.

Name Tysons best win

Spinks was his most iconic win.
Berbick was historically significant.
Holmes had the best resume.
Tyson himself says it’s Ruddock.

I'm not quite sure what the debate is at this point. Tyson, as a long term champion, has a shite resume. His career is not impressive at all. Not even top 20 as a boxer. That's just a fact.

But he was incredibly gifted and had tons of potential. He could have been the greatest ever, but it didn't work out that way. Most of that was horrible management and self sabotage. He could have beat most any heavyweight in history at his apex. I could say that for a ton of other guys though, given more motivation, better training, and smarter management. Could you imagine Fury if he wasn't crazy and an addict?

There’s no crystal clear footage but the slo mo to me looks like temple to jaw, not point of chin. Either way, my point remains, it was not a phantom punch, he clobbered Liston.

Frazier/Tyson would have been a better matchup. Cut the ring in half and let them go toe to toe.
