Lmao, the AD literally fired him that night after losing to Georgia Southern. Talk about the fans getting what they want.

Yep. Money is never a consideration for ADs. As long as they have one or more boosters with deep pockets, it just monopoly games. Probably the same booster that gave him money for Frost in the first place.
None of these people live in the real world.

Makes no sense.

When you're just gonna Clay Helton the thing and promote from Frost's staff. I mean, how much change are you really making?

Just wait and do a search later.

But this is a Trev Alberts who got fired from ESPN for not showing up to work because his gig was getting diminished.

Sounds like they paid the full buyout as a gesture of goodwill to their son of Nebraska. Sounds dumb to me, but whatever.

When I saw the news earlier and the issues concerning whether to wait until the buy out reduces, I wondered if this was perhaps part of their consideration. Frost was a legend there as a player and is from the state, so they might have decided to pull the trigger quicker so he that he actually gets the full buyout, sort of a goodwill severance deal lol.

His buyout if they fired him end of last season was $25 million. So they saved 10 million letting him coach 3 games this season.

Nebraska has been plagued with a divided fanbase the past several coach firings (notably Solich and Pelini). They clearly did not think Frost was the guy, is it worth the chance Frost beats OU and rattles off a few wins and is suddenly back at .500, even if its a small chance?

After the game last night, 100% of the fanbase was fine with or promoting a change of leadership and for the next guy up. That's worth some money too

I`d go after Matt Reuhle or Gary Patterson or the guy
at Rutgers. If they use NIL the right way they can start
giving all those lineman who used to go to Neb back in the
day, from their state, a chance to develope and contribute
as Jrs and SRs . Get 5 or 6 walkon OL a year pay with NIL
and rebuild what their identeny used to be concerning
their past dominance.

Interested to see who takes that job.

Do they go the lazy route and get Bill O’Brian or find a young up and coming coach?

It’ll be Matt Rhule. Will likely step down during the season and then take the Nebraska job but let Joseph coach out the season.

Nebraska of the mid 90s has been dead for years.

Nebraska the 10 win team has still been obtainable but they got pissed that Solich wasn’t immediately matching Osborn’s success and that Pelini was an a-hole.

Let’s just forget the whole Bill Callahan period while we are at it.

Further proof of how little universities/colleges value and manage money in terms of the decisions they make.

This is a weird take. They’re literally doing this because they can’t afford to have an apathetic fan base because that is where the school’s money comes from. They’re taking donor’s money (not money the school is making) to do this.

While coach speak is coach speak, sounds like Stoops is staying at Kentucky:

quote:

“It’s been a great ride and we’ve had a lot of good coaches, a lot of good players,” Stoops said. “(The caller) was the first one that had to open Pandora’s box this year and start talking about another job [laughs].

“I’m very content and very happy at the University of Kentucky. We have a lot more work to do here.”

Every coach says this. He's not saying he won't entertain other jobs, only that he's "happy"

(He's staying at kentucky though)
