I just listened to the interview again, I still don't get the outrage. How is this any worse than when Ray Lewis goes on and on about how God wanted them to win the game, or when Bart Scott screams CAN'T WAIT into the microphone, or countless other crazy post game interviews?
The dude just made the biggest play of his career against a guy who he'd been going back and forth with all game. That intensity is what makes him so good, but you don't expect it in an interview right after the game?

I have two young boys. I can promise you it wont change how they carry themselves. Or they will not participate.
That is my point, all that bullshite is celebrated by a lot of folks..now they want to be shocked when is spills out.
Look at the fans reactions to the rules to protect players. The fans like the zoo that has been created, with all the bullshite. Sherman and his interview were created because there is a demand for that crap.
There are Seahawks fans everywhere thinking it is the greatest moment ever. That is how engrossed folks are in 'their' team.

Ray Lewis is a known idiot. It is not necessarily any worse, but it's a different character. "I'm the best. Look at me. I'm angry and dominant. blah blah blah."

No. No, I don't. Who talked more trash than, say, Larry Bird? Did Charles Barkley talk trash? Did they EVER act like that in a post-game?

It probably won't. If anything, you can use this as an example of how not to behave if you so desired. But the 'think of the children' line of reasoning always assumes players have a massive effect on kids. They really don't. Not long term, and not in a realistic way.

What difference does it make?

Football is a different sport than basketball. The intensity and craziness football players use to fuel them can hurt you on the basketball court

you can (a) talk trash, and (b) make a huge play to win the game, but refrain from carrying the "emotion" into the interview. Richard Sherman has a problem. It mostly hurts him, but it has other effects.
I got into this discussion about the use of the word "thug." I don't think the word thug applies to him, actually. But I don't think calling someone a thug is necessarily racist. People called Bill Laimbeer a thug.
Richard Sherman is just a strange guy with a personality disorder, probably.

Not everyone is as good of a parent as you.
He shouldn't have done it. There's no way to justify that he should just go full a-hole in every interview from now on.

Oh thanks for clarifying that I didn't literally mean every football player

This is pretty accurate.

Yeah, I thought you literally meant every football player.
We are talking about one dude and whether or not he should be excused. You seem to think he should, and I don't really think so. I think it's clownish. GUy is a buffoon.

Right. I work with these kids every day. Lots get less than zero effort.

Its not. It was an awesome, classic interview that people should have enjoyed.

Why isn't he allowed to carry emotion into the interview? Is he supposed to not be human? What is the point of all these invisible rules of propriety?
