Baseball is not my thing really, football is.

But I have 2 boys and they are going to get exposed to every sport they show interest in.

Our 5/6 T-Ball league does not keep score. The kids hit the ball and can only advance one base. The whole team hits then the other team comes in and there whole team hits. Keeping score in a 5/6 yr old T-Ball is absolutely stupid.

"Having them line up to hit the ball a certain way is just as bad and the throwing issues"

Ya moving them forward and backward in the box is the same thing as teaching them to throw it short and let it roll to there teammates?

I say you had better learn quickly that that are Aholes at every level of competition. Most are living their past through their children, trying to relive their glory days if there were any. Learn to get over it, its just a game, esp for 4 year olds. If you don't you will have a stroke or heart attack.

Crazed tball coach stories are the best. I once knew a kid who could tell you his dad's coaching record in recreational baseball. For fun, I would ask his son to give me dad's record every year as our kids grew up.

Back to the OP: I would be pissed if some coach thought my kid to "alligator".

My only question about tee ball is how many beers would one have to consume to make watching a game close to bearable.
That is the worst crap in the world to watch.

In our leauge home runs are allowed on overthrows unless the overthrow is out of the playing field.

They have that at Biedenharn. Main reason I didn't want my girls playing TBall. I'll just work with them at home and start play when they're the same age as the other girls.

At least your league has a no run down rule. Ours doesnt and the other teams put track stars at pitcher and hawk them down without even thinking about throwing it to first base.

I have our team throw it every time. Its 50/50 whether it is a complete catch and throw.

IMO this is some of the best type of ball to watch. I find great joy in watching my 5 yr. old son and his friends learn the game and develop into ball players. Beats watching older kids and adults taking the sport for granted.

Our best player is our pitcher and the kid go 3 outs in a single play once by running them all down.

third to home tagged
first to second tagged
second to third to home tagged.

The kid is a speed demon!

I have to save this thread for next year when my son starts playing. It will be fun trying not to laugh/yell at the idiotic coaches/parents.

I may have trouble getting him to hit off the tee, though--he just turned 3 and refused to use it as of ~ 3 months ago.

This is my 3rd and last year of coaching tball and I have had teams on both ends of the age spectrum. To me it is silly and a lot of the time unsafe to have 4 and 6 years olds on the same field but we are a small league so to make the numbers work they have to do it this way. My advice is don't worry about what the other coaches are doing and just concentrate on teaching them the proper way of doing things. As long as they are having enough fun to where they want to play next year and you can keep them from playing in the dirt you are doing your job with a young team.

FTR I teach my kids to throw the ball on a line and most of the time they will bounce it when throwing from short or 3rd. I don't want them to get into the habit of throwing the ball 12 ft in the air to get it there on the fly when it is quicker and the preferred method to do it the other way.

I agree. I teach them to throw it correctly to the intended recipents glove, not a big loop in the air. Our thrid base (my son) really does not have the arm to reach 1st but he tries. Our short still has not figured out that stopping the ball is only half of what he is supposed to be doing.
