Sorry. I won't post anymore tweets. Everyone on X is responding to the news.
ETA:
There was nothing but a bunch of tweets when I 1st saw what was going on. I had to search Yahoo Sports to find the article.
Is this Texas Tech board of regents member the same guy that was handing money to guys who transfer to Tech?

I've said this before - NIL will kill Women's college sports - yes, even women's basketball and men's olympic sports - even college baseball. The only two sports that can make a profit in the present system is Football and Men's basketball.
If something isn't done within 3 years, these women's college sports and men's olympic sports will become what is called "Club" sports where basically, the players/students have to pay for equipment, travel, etc.
Maybe the schools will give them a scholarship and pay for a Head Coach (the rest of the coaches would probably be volunteer coaches).
That is where this NIL crap is getting us and the "Revenue Sharing" crap.

Yeah... they need to cut about 30 people off that guest list if they actually want to get something accomplished.

Yep, I can confidently say that I know just about what I knew before opening this thread. Baw just threw in 15 tweets with 10s of pages of information, then pretty much told everyone to "figure it out"

That’s rich coming from, Cody Campbell.

Yes it is but he makes some good points.

The middle class schools of the SEC and Big10 ought to realize that their conferences are only speaking for the big money members and what Cody Campbell is advocating would give more financial security to your Mississippi States and Minnesotas.
How would sharing money with more programs like TTech help schools like Moo State? It's not like the SEC and Big10 are structured like the old Big12 where certain schools get preferential treatment. The Big10 and SEC split their larger pot evenly among members.
Splitting that pot with schools getting smaller revenue shares will take money away from these schools, not give them more. Chuck Todd is a zuccone

I don’t agree with everything Cody Campbell says, but people making fun of him seem silly. He is clearly very bright and very successful. And while I may disagree on the solution, he is correct that college sports is on an unsustainable path (and this is from a booster who is paying out many millions in NIL).

He is clearly worried that the 2 big dogs will create their own group, which would decimate his school and others like it by being left out. The irony is that by pushing this, he accelerates the possibility of that split away from the NCAA and these regulations.
A super conference would kill the rest and push those left out into the status of 1AA now, basically. Lesser BCS schools and non-BCS conferences free ride off the revenue generated by the big schools, always have, and creating a clear demarcation not only would eliminate many of the cupcake revenue generation streams, but would completely devalue the TV deal for those schools in time.
This is why they're pushing for nanny state bullshite via Congress, because they know they can't compete in a free-ish market situation, b/c the big schools have all the value (which gives them the power). That's why he wants to further split the pie and increase the free riding.
*ETA: also my post above was about Chuck Todd only. But this post is my resopnse to your's. I just felt a clarification was needed for my prior post.

Tech is just mad they are a have not. Taking it out on the SEC and B1G haves.
I’m a Georgia fan but have serious doubts that what’s best for the “haves” is what’s best for college sports as a whole. I think the haves would most likely come to regret killing off the have nots.
Becoming an unregulated second rate NFL is not in college football’s best interest, in my opinion.

That's basically why CFB has exploded in national popularity the past 25 years and blows all non-football sports out of the water support-wise.
That popularity isn't b/c of schools like Texas Tech, and the only time they did hit national relevance was....beating a school like Texas (in the final moments no less)
Although I will say this. The way CFB is structured, no other American sport is more well-positioned to have a promotion/relegation system like soccer.

I think becoming that formally risks the devotion of the legacy alumni fan, similar to how NASCAR forgot its core fans 20 years ago. You eventually kill the soul of the thing.

Why should national relevance be the determining factor? College football grew to be a behemoth as a regional game.
It’s obviously true that there are 15-20 schools that draw the most eyeballs and are the real powers in the sport, but it’s also true that most college football fans are affiliated with programs not on that exclusive list. A lot of college football viewership comes from fans of “have nots” watching “haves” because they are generally interested in college football due to their interest in their own school. If you kill off their own school, will they really still watch OSU, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Michigan, etc? I think a lot of those fans tune out if there’s no connection, even if that connection was always tenuous.

The Big 10 does not share revenue equally. For example USC is a full share member, while Oregon is a half share member until 2030. Maryland doesn't get a full share until 2027, not sure about Rutgers. Washington is also a half share member.
