The Astros beat the top three payrolls in order in the playoffs
The last three teams to win the WS are the royals Cubs and Astros. Varying market sizes but nowhere close to perennial winning franchises
Spending helps but being being smart is better. The NFL can be essentially boiled down to who was lucky enough to hit on a legitimate QB

MLB has more parity, what is the point of this thread

Wait what? The Royals won the World Series in 2015. The Cubs won the World Series in 2016. The Astros won the World Series in 2017. You don't think there is parity? You're a fricking moron.
If you actually read my post, I said parity among the talent. Every team in the NFL has equal means to sign talent, unlike MLB.
Are you actually refuting this?

I want to buy a million dollar home but I can't. Who cares?
Teams must live within their means. KC and Houston aren't notorious spenders and have won championships more recently than NYY.

We're on page 2 and still nobody can figure out what argument you're truly trying to make. Unbelievable

Stanton’s contract is backloaded.
Posted on 12/9/17 at 2:09 pm to BigD43
The Yankees signing Stanton really has no bearing on winning the WS. Guys like Judge and Stanton will do their damage and probably ensure a playoff appearance, but a lot of their production will come from lesser competition.
The Astros won the WS b/c they did their damage vs the marquee names in the game. They hit aces and closers.
The Yankees already led the league in HRs and were second in runs scored. I'm glad they chose to get better on the offensive side w a HR hitter, and not on the pitching staff.

Now, let’s take a look at the highest paid players in MLB:
1. Clayton Kershaw – LA Dodgers
2. David Price – Boston Red Sox
3. Miguel Cabrera – Detroit Tigers
4. Justin Verlander – Detroit Tigers
5. Felix Hernandez – Seattle Mariners
6. Albert Pujols - LA Angels
7. C. C. Sabathia – NY Yankees
8. Robinson Cano – Seattle Mariners
9. Zack Grienke – Arizona Diamondbacks
10. Joe Mauer – Minnesota Twins
Notice how the largest paid NFL player is from the 45th largest city in the US compared to MLB which is #2. The only true large market team with a player in the NFL list is the Giants at #10. Meanwhile, the only small market on the MLB list is the Twins at #10.
Around half the people on this list aren't even good anymore, and Seattle and Arizona aren't big market teams.

Yeah, he was just having a knee jerk reaction to what he perceives to be bad news.
I only replied to the move being made, not his faulty suppositions.

And not a single member of the world series championship winning team so your point is fricking retarded.
Only one of those has a world series this decade and the player listed wasn't on the team in 2013

Usually, I understand why a person melts on this board.
But this particular melt seems pointless.
It's like you went out of your way to create a shitty reason for a melt.
Did I mention this is a strange melt?

The NFL will continue to show parity among the talent and MLB will continue to be a joke.
Yeah. The parity sucks. No back to back champ in almost 2 decades.
2017 Houston Astros
2016. Chicago Cubs
2015 Kansas City Royals
2014 San Francisco Giants
2013 Boston Red Sox

And like half of the NFL players on that list missed games this season with injuries. At least the baseball players earn their money

How do teams win these championships?
2017-Houston
Correa, Altuve, Springer, Bregman, Gurriel, McCullers, Keuchel, etc all signed/drafted by Houstkn
2016-Cubs
Bryant, Baez, Schwarber, Contreras, Soler were all drafted/signed and Rizzo, Russell, and Rondon were traded for as prospects.
2015-Kansas City
Gordon, Moustkas, Hosmer, Cain, Perez, Dyson, Ventura, Duffy, Holland, Herrera were all drafted/signed.
There might be a coalition between drafting/signing and developing and winning. I might be wrong though?
Everyone is going crazy about the Yankees right? Why? Because they have drafted/signed and developed their guys. Sanchez, Judge, and Severino look like potential long term great players. They have another top 5 prospect that will take over 2nd this year. Another top 50 prospect that will be in the rotation. Bird is also from the org and will start. Same with Gardner.......
Maybe teams should draft well and develop their players?
How many World Series did Detroit win when they bought player after player in the past 5 years?
Boston keeps trading and signing players trying to win again, but it's been 5 years since they did. Price, Sale, Porcello, Kimbrell, Ramirez, Pablo...:where has that money gotten them?

Well, baseball players are frequently at their best in their cheap years so teams like the Angels spend alt and get stuck.
Most of the recent winners have built from within and a couple did it by being horrible a few years and getting the high picks

What point are you trying to make in your OP? Are you just upset that the Yankees got another star?
My point is that the team with the second highest payroll can add a stud like Stanton. Meanwhile, other teams don't even gross the amount of said team's payroll.

The parity in the NFL is far superior in the sense that every team has the same amount to spend.
