Rivera. In
Edgar.. hopefully he gets over the hump
Hope we can get closer with bonds and Clemons
Halladay.. probably around 60 in year one
Will be curious if Mussina keeps trending up at such a clip or begins to plateau
Schilling. Big year to see if he can gain traction or falls off again
Will be curious to see votes for Berkman and Helton

Just stopping by to say Larry Walker is a Hall of Famer
-1997 MVP, 5x All-star, 7x Gold Glove, 3x Silver Slugger, 3x Batting Champion,
-From 1997-2002, averaged .353 with a 157 OPS+
-career slash line of .313/.400/.565
-383 HR and 230 SB, only 10 players in history have more of both
-150 career assits from the outfield, 17th all time
-Higher WAR(72.6) than Gwynn and Winfield
- >4 WAR for 10 seasons, same as Griffey, Jackson, and Musial
- Career 140 wRC+, 34th in history of guys with over 8,000 PAs
Top 15 right fielders in MLB history according to WAR:

Anyone who doesn’t vote Mo in should lose their voting rights.
I mean you’ve gotta be a pretentious a-hole if you think Mariano Rivera doesn’t merit the HoF. Seriously.

Oh I know devils, and I always look forward to the inevitable explanations we’ll get from the 2 or 3 people that won’t.

I'd love to hear some explanations from voters on some of their selections? Like if they leave Mo off but then vote for only 6 players, what is their justification?

I understand the the coors field affect. I’ll argue against a pure road/home split view of stats with walker as well and also find it a travesty that he’s not in the hall.. he was a quentisential five tool player..

Couple potential reasons
-Just want attention.
-their attempt to “preserve” the HoF by no one being 100%
-they know someone is guaranteed to make it in so instead of using a vote there they use it on someone that’s borderline off the ballot
Believe there was also a voter that only voted for players that were on the team he covered.

I get that, but I think if they had to explain their reasoning you would see some of that diminish. Like if a writer came out and just said, "I didn't vote for him because I didn't want him to get 100%."
It would also eliminate those who leave off certain players who are going in while not filling the ballot.
Like if someone voted
Bonds
Clemens
Walker
Halladay
Mussina
Schilling
McGriff
Martinez
Manny
Kent
and left off Mo because they felt he was getting in and wanted other players they felt were deserving a chance, I could understand that one. But some do this and then don't fill out the 10 slots on the ballot

Barry needs to be inducted this year PERIOD one of the most dominating players of ALL-TIME travesty he had to wait this long
I predict Bonds, Clemens, and Schilling will all be inducted in 2021. The HOF ballot will be void of any other strong HOF candidates. Jeter, Rivera, Halladay, Martinez and Mussina will all be inducted by then and there will be no strong first ballot HOF candidates that year. It will be the perfect year to unclog the ballot by inducting those three.

Just made an edit to quickly throw up his road numbers compared to other guys in the Hall.
I get people say his road numbers are so much less than his home numbers. But his roads number are still great

Yeah I definitely wasn’t defending those people just some possible reasons behind it. For the guys that leave off players that are 95% voted in to vote for guys that they believe should be kept on the ballot or on the cusp of getting in I can at least understand that.
The guys that leave people off when they have open slots or won’t vote for first year players, can’t stand them.
I believe the voting is public now too so hopefully that helps

Gonna be hard to leave out those guys when the commissioner that oversaw and profited off the steroid era was inducted

inducting owners and commissioners into sports hall of fames is so self serving and weird to me
Remember i had this take first before we watch Roger goodell getting inducted in a few years
Posted on 11/20/18 at 1:00 pm to wildtigercat93
Oh it’s very self serving, especially for commissioners. Only been 10 total including Manfred now and 5 are in the Hall. The only ones that aren’t, held the position for less than 5 years
