Out of a total of 306 players.
I understand that hockey is life in Canada but dang that’s quite a disparity.

Racism. Pure and simple.

What’s the percentage by race?

That's not bad considering American born players were once a vast minority in the NHL. Honestly thought the number would be lower.

For perspective the rest of the non-Canada world has 25. Go us
Not surprised at the metric. Same reasons why Americans are the overwhelming majority of the basketball HOF (which is a greater % than Canadians for hockey)

I guess my shock is mainly due to the fact that the majority of NHL franchises are in the U.S.
But I guess we should have to take in account for most of the country hockey was pretty much impossible to play for the longest time.

But yet it’s been since 93’ since they won a Stanley Cup. We just exploit their athletes.

Jason Robertson is my favorite hockey player. A Cali kid who's family moved to Michigan just so he could play some serious hockey. He's half Scottish and half Filipino, and is a great American story.
