I don't think that's optimism. That's realism bordering on pessimism.

They have two really great players. Teams with players like that SHOULD be competing for Conference Finals appearances.

They definitely aren't because they have a shite coach and a mediocre roster. It is what it is.

They should be better than a 6-7 seed, but they probably won't be.

If they don't make the playoffs then everything just burns down. Whatever. It is what it is.

I can't name one guard for peels outside of holiday of course they are the worst in the league. If u put line, levart, whitehead, foyer and hollis Jefferson and Archie goodwin (nets) they are a no doubt about it play off team

I mean I'm hesitant on giving gentry that much leeway to for sure say that much over .500 even with all of that happening.

Ah good point. I'm going to be honest, Magic has done a pretty good job...so far. I didn't like the DLo trade initially, but I failed to look at the big picture. Let's hope he doesn't make any dumb FA moves this summer

I completely agree. Let's hope they don't do something stupid after midnight tonight

I think having Jrue Holiday, a pretty good Guard, pretty much disqualifies them from "worst in the league" territory.

E'twaun Moore is a pretty good backup that a lot of teams would probably like to have. The problem is he starts for us. Crawford really showed something this past year, scoring wise. If he keeps it up he will get a big contract from someone.

After that is a pretty big shitshow.

As for Iguodala, I still am of the opinion that he stays in GS when the dust settles.

That'd be really impressive if an aging athlete turned down money. He's going to probably turn down at least a 50% raise to stay put.

I can't argue with you there. Gentry is an absolute bum.

I know a lot of Pels fans are not a fan of Holiday at a big number but I don't think they really have a choice.

Agreed. You kinda got be content to overpay with him because the alternative is much, much worse IMO.

you know what's really sad is with the two elite players we have our fan base should be way more excited but I feel like this is the attitude of most of us right now. It's just sad really because I feel like this is what leads to franchises moving on eventually.

They basically have no alternative.

The alternative would be giving up assets like the 2018 pick + Etwaun Moore and other parts for a Rubio, Lin, or at best, Bledsoe.

Define "not any good"

A core of AD/Boogie/Jrue - I'd be absolutely shocked if NOP wasn't any good, but maybe we have varying definitions.

No. Their roster aside of those 2 is awful. They may have the worst guard play in the NBA
JRue Holiday scoffs at this notion, both notions even.

I agree with you, but he also took a pay cut to join GS in his prime and the tech/investment opportunities there can make up some of the money he is losing on NBA contracts.

They'll hover around .500

They may sneak in to the playoffs with the Clippers falling apart.

Is there much of a precedent for 2 top 15-20 players, 1 being fringe top 5, in their prime playing together healthy and finishing around .500?

Nah. They'll be a few games better than 500. Really outdated thinking on your part.

That's not true. He had come off a really good season both individually and as a regular season team that year and he was the center piece of that.

quote:

Iguodala turned down a four-year, $52 million contract with the Sacramento Kings, a $60 million five-year deal with the Nuggets, and a "lucrative" deal with the Mavericks. The Warriors were able to land Iguodala at a discount in comparison with a four-year, $48 million contract.
