Well for starters the H1N1 has a fatality rate .01-0.08% compared to a 2.0%-3.0% fatality rate for the coronavirus.

The R0 for H1N1 has been estimated to be between 1.4 and 1.6. The R0 for coronavirus is between 2.0 and 3.0.

They shouldn't play in the scheduled places if they go through with this. The empty venues will be ridiculous. The only thing that could save the tournament is if they play in tiny arenas where the family and staff that gets to go can make a little noise.

The Covid death rate is a product of limited testing. H1N1 actually killed young people. Covid is an old people disease.

Emmert just came out and said they are looking to move it from MBS into a smaller venue in Atlanta area. Would be ridiculous to host a basketball game in an empty football stadium.

@dennisdoddcbs reports that a major conference official told him a total cancellation the NCAA Tournament is definitely a possibility

Dennis Dodd is this generation's Dave Kindred or Robert Lypsite. "Sportswriters" who hate sports and thrive on the negative. A cancellation of the tournament would thrill him to know in.

Empty NBA arenas will be ridiculous too. They need to play in small university or high school gyms. That's the only way to have a semblance of atmosphere.

They're putting the public's wellness over money and it took serious balls to do it. I respect them for their decision.
