A lot of people forget that the old Tulane Stadium used to sell out every game.........and that the team was actually really good.
Hopefully Tulane will get back on track.

Isn't there some type of agreement with the city that the Dome will be the only stadium in the city with a capacity over 40-45k? I heard that somewhere, sounds plausible, so as not to take events away from the Dome.
Does Tulane actually have room for this? If they do, it's a good idea.

If true, this is great for Tulane. ANd it will increase attendance.

i actually think we are on the upswing also, Toledo has beena great recruiter for us.
We have more and more of 3 and 2 stars coming over each year.

Tulane should go look at SMU's new stadium...it isn't that big, but it looks nice...

I don't think this happens. Cowen has basically shite on athletics since he has been there.
And where the hell are 25000 people going to park? Parking is non-existant in that area.

I doubt it. There's not much room behind the Wilson Center. Parking would also be a huge issue like someone else just said

where will Tulane get the $$$ to do this?
Posted on 1/14/10 at 11:08 pm to am4titansandlsu
First, this would be great for Tulane to do this obviously.
Second, do they have the money for this right now?

If they do this, it would be incredible. This is what Tulane HAS to do to save that football program. Playing games with 2,000 people in the Dome won't cut it. Its a graveyard.

Have they finally finished all of Ford?
I went on an interview there and it was in the planning stages. Damn Cash Birdwell, would have loved to take that gig.
ETA:
Where would they exactly put the new Tulane Stadium? I thought the Athletic Center was now part of the baseball stadium.
Why cant they renovate Tad or try to purchase it? I know it was renovated for the Olympic Trials but wouldnt there be enough donors to get this done?

They used to park for Tulane Stadium. It was the largest stadium in the South. Why not now?

Dude, come on, you live uptown. I'm all for a stadium, but there's no way the parking isn't a nightmare. The parking uptown is mostly a nightmare as is.

It might be possible, but i doubt the Rick Jones is gonna want them touching his baseball field.

Seems like that athletic program has been getting shafted quite a bit for the last decade or two so I don't see what would bring about this change of heart.
I haven't been on that campus in a while, but if I remember, isn't there a plaque or something where the old stadium used to be? Is there any room there still?
Demolition of the old stadium:

I think behind the wilson center. I know there are two or three practice fields out there now - I am sure it will be in that area and will be a tight fit. Hopefully they can get all the permits that they need and this project can be started soon.
