Damn really wish Dustin could have gone out on top at home. Max looks really fricking good right now which also means how ridiculous is Topuria

I was waiting on it since 30s left, but once Max tapped him and pointed Dustin went for the dap up.

I think he missed the plan haha

I also don’t think he fully understood what Max was saying to do there lol

Sometimes it gets hard to think when you've been getting punched in the face for 25 minutes.

Alright, it's been fun, guys. Let's do it again sometime. I'll be sure to take a nap. I gotta get some sleep.

One thing weird I noticed, obviously they will be gassed regardless, but Poirier not using ice between rounds was odd

Max is a dangerous fighter. Was a fun fight.

Probably not honestly And if he did, I can’t think of a worse way to retire then to get into a haymaker contest with 5 seconds to go

Especially against a guy that has never lost one of those

Not sure how anyone could've handled this better than Max. I've never pulled against him but now I'm not sure how anyone can't pull for him.

Yeah mad respect for Max the way he handled the whole week and especially after the fight. He will always have my support as long as he lives.

Hopefully this showing will get New Orleans more UFC events. Id like to catch one sometime
It seemed like a pretty lively crowd to me but a lot of people on X/Reddit were saying the crowd was terrible. Is that just par for the course when UFC goes to a new place?

I agree. I wanted Poirier to get the KO/TKO but if you saw how Holloway and Poirier looked after the fight, nobody would have known the judges decision. Holloway got the stats but Poirer definitely left more marks. DP thought he won and you can’t blame him, Holloways face looked like he got run over by a truck.

It’s Reddit.
Do you expect them to be positive?

Not at all. But this only reinforced how dumb many of the people that attend these events are.

I'd have to go back and watch. Did Poirier mess up his chance of closing out the fight by shooting that guilly? Someone mentioned that he could have locked in a D'Arce and that that would have served him better.

If so... man, he was told by his corner not to be shooting the guilly so many times in his career. To end on a loss because of this thing that was like a running joke... Rough.

He nearly had Max out.

I did note this as well. I respect all the aspects of MMA. From wrestling, to BJJ, to kickboxing and on and on. Lots of folks started with the boo birds as soon as anything resembling a clinch or a ground work occurred. Some folks just want MMA to be a kickboxing match and don’t understand that ground work can and is exciting too.

Max won 5 rds. You can call Rd 2 a draw because its Dustin's retirement fight but yeah it wasn't really close from a scoring standpoint.

Great fight! Mad respect to both guys. Max has always been my favorite fighter, glad to see him get a strong win. He had a lot of power tonight.

It’s wild that you can’t say anything negative in these threads about the uneducated fans.

The reality is a lot of the ones that attend these events are just flat out uneducated about what’s going on. That’s OK to say.
