Undefeated 1972 Dolphins vs 2025 Hoosiers. Who did it better?

Just made this thread and it was deleted? No clue why.
I say Indiana because they were more dominant in the postseason. All three of the Dolphins postseason game were won by one score.
Indiana played a cupcake non-conference schedule, but the Dolphins won 8 of their 14 regular season games against the AFC East, which had no teams with a winning percentage over .500.

95 Huskers were more dominant than the 2019 LSU team. Both teams did destroy really bad OU defenses.

Dolphins had to use a backup quarterback for a majority of the year because Griese got hurt. Does Indiana go undefeated with Mendoza The Younger?

Because hypothetical games these and even the comparisons are just..... really dumb.

How many undefeated national champions in college football?
How many undefeated Super Bowl winners?
How many undefeated national champions since the last undefeated Super Bowl champion?
The answer seems obvious.

Far too many posters here are putting this Indiana team far too high in the echelon of college football. That’s just my take.

It's recency bias combined with the fact that they might be one of the most likeable teams of all time and they certainly have a top 5 story of all time. Great team though and im happy for them, Beck did what I thought he was gonna do vs Ole Miss.

Seriously comparing to NFL? No contest. What 72 Dolphins did is still special.
What Indiana did is very special in its own way.
That game last night had the *feel* of an NFL game due to both teams players level of execution but ...
You can't seriously compare any cfb team to an NFL team at least not since the 50's or so.

I don't think he's comparing the actual teams. Just noting that '72 Dolphins are the only team to go 17-0 in the NFL and '26 Indiana is the only team to go 16-0 in the NCAA which makes them both "unique" albeit Indiana has a small sample size of extended seasons to boast over. But the Dolphins also went undefeated soon after the merger and nobody has caught them yet.
Either way, we will see another 16-0 college season before we see an NFL team go 19-0.

the 2007 Patriots would've been undoubtedly the best pro sports team ever if they pulled it off.

My thread about the 2025 Hoosiers vs a grizzly bear got deleted, too. Life is unfair.

Should delete it again.

Would have been a lot more Big 8 titles for Osborne in the ‘70s and ‘80s if OU had been as bad then as they were in 1995.
Osborne vs. all Big 8 coaches not named Switzer: 144-11-2
Osborne vs. Swizer: 5-12
It never ceases to amaze me how people don’t realize that much of 1995 Nebraska’s dominance (compared to the many great Husker teams of the Devaney-Osborne-Solich era) can be attributed to playing rock bottom OU, mediocre OOC opponents, no Big 12 or conference championship game, bowl opponent clearly not as strong on the defensive front as the FSU and Miami fronts of previous seasons, and only 12 total games.
Even McCartney wasn’t around in 1995.
Easy mode.

The 2007 Pats went 17-0. Actually 18-0. They just didn’t go 19-0.
Life’s easier when you play fewer games.
