When they get tougher and more competitive, he'll struggle against the zones. Those foreign teams play in zones, on both sides of the ball, a lot better than american players. He won't get clear lanes to the hole and can't shoot. Plus he doesn't play D. The better teams the USA will play have AWESOME ball movement. Spain got in the lane at will at times vs. the US. Would've been nice to have another rim protector

Howard sucked in 2008. Bosh was much better, especially in the Spain game.
Spain is better at the 5, but LeBron play will power forward in the Olympics. If he gives a legit effort, the US will cruise.
Keep in mind the US won the World Championships with a much, much worse team. And the bigs were Lamar Odom (albeit in form), Kevin Love, and Tyson Chandler (both are much better now than 2 summers ago).
Would have been nice to have Bosh though.

Yeah, I feel like this gets forgotten about. Not one person from the 2008 team was on the 2010 team. Also agree it will hurt not having a PF like Bosh.

quote:Brought that up in another thread. It was basically, stand around and watch Kevin Durant go to work. Kevin Durant vs. The World. Seems like he carried a heavier burden on his back with that team than he does with OKC.

I thought Odom did a lot on that team. Also Westbrook and Billups were very solid, along with Eric Gordon in limited minutes. I wasn't overly impressed with Rose though.

The guy has gone from being slightly overrated to ridiculously underrated. A second year guy who averages 20 and 12 and plays aggressive as anyone in the league gets ripped on because he jumped halfway over PJ's wife's car. He is definitely deserving.

Yeah Odom was good. Westbrook was Westbrook...explosive. Iggy played really good defense. I believe Durant set all kinds of team USA scoring records.

Ibaka says Spain can hang.
By the way, check out this terrible AP article.

That team was one of my favorites. Westbrook played the 6th man role like Wade in 08. Gay and Iggy were studs too.

So a rb and the dude from "the box" made the team

@okcthunder - FYI, It's the 1st time ever that 3 players from same NBA team make the USA Olympic team. #ThunderTrio
That's pretty impressive. Plus Ibaka on Spain.

I understand the international game doesn't cater to him offensively but he'll be a rebounding machine & hustle guy. And in transition will be hard to stop. I doubt we see him play much crunch time minutes but it's not like he is a total outcast here. His hustle in spurts will be worth a lot.

James Harden made Team USA. Dat boy should be well rested after missing the entire NBA Finals.

I think he will have about as much of an impact on the team as Boozer did in Beijing.
Both Beijing and Istanbul used 9-man rotations for the most part.
Boozer, Redd, and Prince sat in Beijing. Granger, Love, and Chandler sat in Istanbul.
This time around, I bet it will be Harden, Griffin, and Iguodala.
