This right here.

Maybe the Washington Monuments.

Washington Gators because of the DC swamp (both figuratively and the fact that part of it was a literal swamp in the early days).

No one knows what a Griffin is; folks would think it's tied to Family Guy.

I realize there are a lot of idiots in this country, but really?

I don't even think Griffins is a great name, but compared to the other options listed, it's at least unique, and could yield some interesting branding opportunities.

Washington Fighting [Insert name of current President]

So for the next four years, they'd be the Washington Fighting Bidens.

Washington Fighting Bushes for eight years might have been a bit weird.

I'm not far from 50-years-old and I've never read a Harry Potter book or watched one of the films. I don't believe most folks know what a "griffin" is.

They went out of their way to put these overly patriotic names and somehow left off the Washington Minutemen, which sounds better than at least half that list

The Washington Redtails has been and always be the best replacement name. Checks all the boxes and the color scheme can stay the same.

I have seen many cool concepts for a Redtails uniform. Plus imagine the possibilities of one or two "alternate" uniforms they could put together to honor the Tuskegee Airmen? I seriously think this is the winning choice.

Then toss in some cool alternates that honor the unit crests and colors.

Walk me through this. What affiliation does DC have to the Red-tails? I keep seeing this. Did they train there or something? Or it it just the names are kind of close?

They don't technically, but the Tuskegee Airmen are a uniquely American story. Washington is the capital of America, good, bad or indifferent. Its where the Pentagon is. Its where all of our military department heads are. Its where our military hero's RIP in Arlington National Cemetery. It seems only fitting that the Redtails should be in Washington. Just my opinion....

Imagine P-51 "Redtails" doing flyovers for every Washington home game. I think it could become a very symbolic franchise in American sports.

Looking up and seeing a squadron of P51's would be pretty freaking awesome.

I seriously doubt that in today’s climate that they do anything that commemorates the military or anything that’s relatively patriotic or white

How about just Reds? They can roll with the old circle R logo.
