Soccer Needs Penalty for flops/dives ?

NFL penalizes Punters who fake being "roughed"...

They do. Two Germans were given yellow cards for diving against the Aussies on Sunday.

Soccer needs a 3 point line.

If you don't enjoy soccer already, no rule change will help get you there.

OT in soccer should be sudden death like hockey.

They tried that. It ended up with teams just sitting in the box 'till the shootout, minus one or two counters.

No no no. You never have a shootout. You play until someone scores.

Only issue with sudden death overtime is the game goes too fricking long with no scoring. If you do that, you need to remove people from the field (similar to hockey OT going 4 on 4). Find that number of removed teams to have shots on goal happen more often.

A line of scrimmage, pads, an oblong ball and the forward pass.

I also think a penalty box could be instituted like hockey. Soccer power plays could be interesting and would increase scoring.

hell of an idea. would increase flopping tho

their alrady sorta is. Its called a red card and its for however long is left in the game, not just 2 minutes.

Have a definitive amount of time in the game. Stop the clock during injuries and play to 90:00

THIS. I know they have the technology to just press "pause" on the clock. How hard is that? I've never heard a good argument in favor of the stoppage time bullshite.

I vote for an offside line like hockey halfway from the center line to the goal line. Just stay behind that until the ball is passed forward.

It would be so easy for the linesman to just stand on that line like they do in hockey.

Yea, but you only get a red card when you really do something serious. I'm talking about having a penalty box for every infraction that's whistled. 2 minutes in the box for the offending player. Red card rule would still be in effect. Anything that draws a yellow card is equivalent to a 5 minute major.

That's actually the most viable suggestion in this thread. It would definitely open the game more, but the times you listed may be a little too long.

Lacrosse has very similar rules, and I think they work pretty well.

Make the penalty for diving very serious as to deter people from doing it. I'm talking red card for obvious flops.

Yea, possibly. That could be tweaked. Maybe 1 minute minors and 3 minute majors.

Or 2 point line. And make it FAR away so it rarely happens, but close enough to where people still try in desperation.

6 on 6, no goalies

I'd settle for 9 on 9 with goalies. 11 players is just too many.

Make the goals 4 times as large and add another keeper.
