Until a few days ago the answer was easy. Now, I will go with Pete Rose, unless you want to pick a pitcher in which case it would be between Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemons.

51 and still playing. Legend

It's Bonds by a mile. Don't let the clown downvoters try to convince you otherwise.

too short of a career
Look he made the right decision for him
not holding that against him
but to be the greatest living baseball player of all-time longevity has to be a factor

Of the untarnished, it’s clearly Nolan Ryan
If you want to consider steroid freaks and guys who bet on games they managed, Bonds and Rose would definitely be in the convo.

Obviously Bonds
Could honestly make a case for Ohtani unless it’s just based on cumulative stats
But if you were drafting a team and could choose any living MLB player at their peak, who would you take? I guess that’s a different topic though

Ichiro Suzuki was a better baseball player than Pete Rose.

This wouldn’t be the most popular answer but it would be A-Rod hands down. Having a good defensive shortstop who’s also a top 5 offensive player year in and year out is an insane advantage. Your team is pretty much guaranteed to have a prolific offense if he was on it.

Barry Bonds. Hate him or love him, he's the greatest player living. His competition just died.
Never did like him, but even the pre-roid Bonds had he kept up the same statistical line - was HOF worthy. The post roid Bonds was arguably the best hitter ever.
