There is a lot of idiotic garbage being posted in here. I'm guessing this thread has drawn out the livingston parish types

because they allow so much contact it has come down to simply who has the bigger, better and stronger athletes. There's very little innovation so it's not interesting anymore.

You must hate baseball too

Those are all reasons I have a hard time following MLB very closely. College baseball is much better. But I enjoy the game of baseball. I played baseball. We all played baseball growing up. White people didn't play basketball where I'm from. There really weren't any little league basketball teams or anything. I just don't know the sport very well and can't get into watching it. I follow march madness but NBA just seems so overhyped and the games are pretty damn boring IMO

The NBA is back and the OT is showing their true colors.

think about your question, removing the need for any traditional bb skills, other than dunking and threes, makes it better? it's just street ball now

or how about just call the game down the middle without an obvious bias?

- stop special treatment calls for star players

- stop calling tick tack / phantom foul calls during the final 2 minutes of games. you know, those fouls that are only called nearly every possession of the final 2 minutes AS IF none of those "fouls" had once been committed in the previous 46 minutes of the game. funny how the refs only call certain fouls during that time and turn the other cheek to them beforehand.

that's a start, it does become more like wrestling when you hear the "chosen ones" telling the refs that they're not supposed to call that particular whatever on them

First, the NBA doesn't suck. A lot of the criticism of the style of play just doesn't hold water in today's game. They do play defense and they do run set plays. They also play fast, and, yes, they score a lot of points. As far as comparing it to college, I enjoy watching better athletes competing at the highest level. . . in every sport.

The "thug image" of the NBA likewise is bullshite today if compared to the NFL. It's just that you can see black players with tattoos and baggy shorts. Some white people don't like the way they look and make unwarranted assumptions, regardless of the reality.

There are legitimate criticisms. I do think the season is too long (just like MLB). IMO, it should start just after Christmas and go about 60 games or so. I also don't have a problem with the first round of the playoffs being five game series. That said, series playoffs rock as opposed to single elimination and they tend to sort out the best teams. And, I'd change the the timeout situation in the last two minutes. Interestingly enough, college basketball has much more of a problem with television timeouts than the NBA.

NBA TV ratings have continued to fall.

If that keeps up (and it will), they are in deep trouble.

People are voting with their remote.

You may wish to do a little closer research on that issue.

another thing I left out is the need to call 3 sec violations in the nba, but do you really see precision plays being run, pick and rolls, alley oops, good passing, etc.? all I see is bombs, butchering, and slams

indeed it does. however in the NBA it is much more common and much more noticeable.

someone like Kevin Durant or D-Wade knows that all they have to do is dive into the lane, throw the ball up, and scream - and they will be awarded 2 free throws.

on the other hand - someone like Marco Belinelli or Jarrett Jack can drive into the lane against certain star players or the NBA's popular teams - get punched in the mouth, tackled, or hacked to hell and back, and the officials will turn the other cheek while the carefully trained announcers waive it off as "just good, strict defensive basketball".
