Lue was hired because he does absolutely nothing as coach. He just allows Lebron to be the real coach. And allowing Lebron to be the real coach is better than being an awful coach like Spoelstra is.

It's amazing that Doc has fallen so far. After the 2010 finals everyone would've had him as a top three coach.

Without Pierce, KG, Allen, and Rondo creating good looks his offense is just wildly inconsistent and he has CP3 running the show.
Also, Doc had possibly the most overqualified assistant in NBA history on that Boston staff in Tom Thibodeau.

Not to hijack this thread, but stop & consider that back in the Celtic's decades + run, Red was the only coach on the bench & he only had 10 players total to use. And only 10 teams in the league, so the competition was that much stronger.

The last 2 years Spoelsta has had 2/3 of the Big 3 and finished with 38-44 and 45-37. Reread that sentence. Let that sink in. Now of course Wade is gone.

Even when Lebron was in Miami I always thought Spoelstra cost the team 5-10 regular season wins every year.
Well then...

People in the know around the league have much much more respect for both rivers and spo than your average fan ... In fact those are the 2 coaches who id say have the biggest gap in fan perception and perception around the league.

I used to think same thing. But you clearly didn't watch playoffs this year. The man worked up from scout to assistant now hc. He was instrumental in a playoff run with a bad team.

Don't think he did much when lebron was there think that is more reflective on lebron. This year he was calling plays and on top of his game.

Common era Rick Carlisle (Dallas 2011) gets my vote

His Nuggets team once gave up 107 points in a half and allowed 130 PPG for the whole season.
And what year was this? Average ppg across the league? Pace?
