Diego Pavia is the poster-child for the deranged fantasy land indoctrinated mindset that still exists in the SEC. A podcast he did awhile back...popped up after his Bowl game.
Diego Pavia: "You only have to score 7 points to beat Iowa...In the SEC, you're gonna get beat on week after week after week, Big10 you ain't gonna get beat on".
Interviewer: " C'mon man, that's a bullshite comment, they're the last two National Champs".
Diego Pavia: "Nah, man".
Iowa 34 , Vanderbilt 27

Iowa's defense could certainly frustrate a lot of SEC teams. Parker always has his defenses well prepared. Might be able to rip off wins against mid tier teams, but win the SEC......don't even think about it until Ferentz realizes that you need to play offense too.

The games on the field don’t show that the SEC is better.

Go back and watch that game. Every time Diego dropped back he got planted. Iowa abused him, sacked him 4 times in the first half alone.
I love reading his quotes now.

Dude, you’re bragging about beating Vanderbilt? The team that’s been the perennial bottom dweller in the SEC?
Without pavia we aren’t having this discussion. They’ve been a good story for a couple of years but thinking you accomplished something big is just delusional.

It’s crazy seeing these sec fans move goal posts.
“Let them in they deserve it! I’m nervous to play them!”
To “they were BOTTOM dwellers a few years ago!”
It’s okay bro maybe the sec will become a football conference sometime in the future

I was replying to the post that had these comments from Pavia and noting how I loved how he had to eat those words.
Reading comprehension.

Many on here thought Vandy should be in the playoffs.

Only if you pick and choose which games have meaning. The regular season out of conference games as well as on-roster talent still matter. The B10 fan tribalism is funny after their stance on SEC tribalism during its decade+ of dominance, although I’m sure they’ll ride their high horses and frame it as they’re just making fun of SEC fans.

There is no Big 10 tribalism. We've just been hearing about "how there is no game off in the SEC" and how loaded the conference is by y'all when all of the analytics loved the Big 10.

There definitely has been if you follow any amount of CFB twitter or listen to any podcasts. It’s well justified after the decade of SEC tribalism, but it’s definitely happening if your head isn’t in the sand.
Either that or you just spend way too much time on SEC centric message boards

Lol, guess I'm playing mind reader now. Which games are you considering? You seem to be putting outsized emphasis on bowl games and ignoring regular season OOC records.

The SEC had good wins with TAMU over ND and OU over Michigan
Look at the rest of these juggernauts. Georgia tech the best of them by a country mile and most have losing records. Wisconsin was beat by Iowa 37-0.
Alabama over Wisconsin?
Auburn over Baylor?
LSU over Clemson?
Vandy over VA Tech?
Florida over FSU?
Georgia over GA Tech?
Missouri over Kansas?
Tennessee over Syracuse?
I think your theory of these games being the defining measuring stick is laughable looking at this slate of games.

I’m not defining anything; I’m just not ready to call the SEC rungs below the B10 after 2 years. Now objectively do the B10 and pretend like there’s anything there besides Texas @ OSU, which is less impressive than TAMU @ ND.

The big ten has half of the semi final after beating the SEC runner up and Big 12 champs in the most meaningful games possible—combined score was 61-3 and it would have been much worse if Dan Lanning weren’t retarded and Indiana were merciless.
The big ten runner up lost a hard fought game 24-14.
In the regular season, you had bottom feeders like Wisconsin, UCLA, and Purdue playing playoff contenders and top 20 teams.
USC lost to Notre Dame on the road
Ohio state beat Texas
Illinois beat the ACC champs
Michigan lost to Oklahoma
Iowa lost to Iowa state
Only an SEC homer would look at these resumes and playoff and bowl results and say that the SECs big wins over sub .500 teams tells the real story, or even part of it.

It certainly seems like you’re spinning a narrative based on the slant of the posts you just typed out. I’m not going to pretend like the SEC is some juggernaut, but you’re being disingenuous. B10 QB play has been much better than the SEC’s in the last couple of years, and your top end has been better each of the last 2. It’s far closer to the conferences being equals than you’re ever going to admit, so I’ll just leave it alone.
Posted on 1/6/26 at 10:09 pm to Louie T
What slant? You have 3 of the worst teams in the big ten playing ranked teams: Wisconsin played the SEC runner up Alabama, last place Purdue playing playoff contender Notre Dame, and Bottom feeder UCLA who fired their coach 4 games in going up against #15 Utah.
Of course they’re going to have a shite record.
Meanwhile you’re boasting about the important regular games the SEC played against turds like Baylor, Kansas, and Syracuse.

Have a good one.
Mentioning OSU's postseason "hard-fought loss" while ignoring TAMU doing the same and bragging about a win over the ACC champ while ignoring Ole Miss' 2x demolition of the the team that beat the ACC champ means you won't have a good faith argument.
Conference superiority is monumentally stupid. I hope SEC teams lose every game. It's just funny watching B10 fans turn heel after a decade of ragging on SEC fans for doing the same.
I won’t spend a ton of time or effort pretending the SEC is something it isn’t. If LSU is good enough to genuinely compete for anything then we won’t be on the precipice of being left out nor do I care about how the conference is perceived. We’ll undoubtedly get a favorable push from the playoff committee and ESPN since they give the SEC team the unfair push it doesn’t deserve per the rest of the CFB universe either way.
