4:30 Kevin Smith's newest disaster

I'm mostly to blame for thinking he could pull one out. He's been a sinking ship since MallRats. Why would any producer give him money? It's basically a story about him in his youth in the 80's: a fat kid who likes movies. It's bad....really really bad.

I mean, its got a 73% / 88% Critic / Popcorn score on RT. Not saying its good, but it doesn't sound like the trainwreck you are making it out to be

Lol come on now. You're saying only the very first two Kevin Smith movies are good?
Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back were all after Mallrats. Even Clerks 2 and Zack & Miri were decent.

Clerks 3 was way better than it should've been IMO. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed them but no where in the same universe as the original Clerks. The last two Clerks were abysmal.

Kevin Smith is a twat waffle

He made a couple of marginally good movies. At this point he's basically playing the character of 'small budget indy director', complete with character costume: long denim shorts, t shirt/blazer or sports jersey, baseball hat on reversed, stupid look on his face. Google him and look at the images that come up, he's dressed this way in every photo. He's a choad.

quote:I don't find any of his movies to be very rewatchable. He's one of the most entertaining public speakers that I've ever seen perform in person, but none of his films since Clerks has really blown me away (And Clerks was just elevated in my mind because of its production backstory).
He's been a sinking ship since MallRats.
I enjoy him more as a personality than as a film maker.

He's the douche who had Batman piss himself, isn't he?

I'll give him that. His college tour was great

I just checked, and it's true.

He was a decent writer of dialogue.
Sometime after Clerks 2, he got super into partisan politics and ultra-progressivism
Just watch "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot". . .it is essentially him apologizing for all of his previous movies not being "woke" enough, and chastising his fans for liking them.

Hard to imagine that. So the guy who shite-talks gays making out with Ben Affleck in Chasing Amy or God being a shitty pop singer wasn't woke enough?
Smith is like a far less talented Tarantino. There's a template. If you like that template enough to see it a dozen or more times, he's your man. If it was mildly amusing a time or two and you're expecting more, don't.

Have you seen reboot?
It is exactly as I described
They even retcon shite from the previous movies
Ben hooking up with the gay chick in Chasing Amy? That didn't happen because it would be homophobic and misogynistic.

Some critics have argued “Chasing Amy’s” story of a straight man (Ben Affleck’s Holden) romantically pursuing a lesbian woman (Joey Lauren Adams’ Amy) has not aged well in the 22 years since its release. So bringing back both actors for a “where are they now” scene in “Reboot” allowed Smith to correct the record on that narrative.
“Suddenly ‘Chasing Amy’ is completely f—ing reframed through that one 30 second clip in this movie,” Smith told TheWrap in an interview. “‘Chasing Amy’ has become a bit more problematic for some audiences in the current climate. So I got to go back and correct that stuff as well … how ‘Chasing Amy’ would’ve been so much better if it was made by anybody but a cis, white male. Things we couldn’t say in 1997 because we didn’t know they existed, but things that I get from 22 years of perspective and hearing people talk about the movie, good and bad, for two f—ing decades.”

I stand corrected. Smith is an even sadder, woke dipshit than even I thought him to be... which was considerable.

Brodie: It's impossible. Lois could never have Superman's baby. Do you think her fallopian tubes could handle his sperm? I guarantee he blows a load like a shotgun right through her back. What about her womb? Do you think it's strong enough to carry his child?
T.S. Quint: Sure, why not?
Brodie: He's an alien, for Christ sake. His Kyrptonian biological makeup is enhanced by Earth's yellow sun. If Lois gets a tan, the kid could kick right through her stomach. Only someone like Wonder Woman has a strong enough uterus to carry his kid. The only way he could bang regular chicks is with a Kryptonite condom, but that would kill him.
