A Ghost Story (2017)

Has anyone seen this? It’s the movie where Casey Affleck plays a ghost and wears a sheet over himself for the majority of the film.
What a beautiful little movie. So simple yet effective. It really portrays the passage of time brilliantly. Where the little mundane moments seem to last forever, but the next thing you know 10 years have passed in a blink of an eye.
It’s a film that also tackles the age old question - the meaning of life - in a sweet, yet emotional way. There’s a monologue by a pretentious hipster about how life is meaningless and nihilistic. I think the movies message is a counter argument to life being meaningless. And that the effect we have on others while we are still alive is the ultimate meaning of life.
If you haven’t seen it, A Ghost Story is a high recommendation for me. It’s a movie I think everyone should watch at least once. If you have a family member that has recently passed away I will warn that the movie is deep about grief, loss and letting go.
9/10. This movie really really surprised me.

I watched it a few years ago, and it got me deep in the feels. Touching movie.

Worst movie ever made. Rooney sits in the ground eating pie while ghost watches her… for what felt like about 17 minutes.

this movie and ex machina are what turned me on to A24.

The same director did The Green Knight last year. I absolutely loved both. I need to do a rewatch of Ghost Story. Its been five years.

We loved it so much that my youngest daughter is somewhat named after this movie.
Or at least her name was inspired while we watched the movie.
The pie scene was a bit long though

I also loved The Green Knight. But it is slow and doesn't explain itself and will irritate some viewers for those reasons
