I actually got a chance to meet and talk with "Apone" the marine capt in Aliens. He was working as a radio DJ in London while I was living there back in the early 90's. Sweetest guy you could ever meet. I didn't actually recognize him until we started talking about movies and he said "you know I was in Aliens" and then I bugged out.

As others have said, they're two different types of movies. One is creepy thriller/horror/science fiction masterpiece, and the other is just a solid action movie with ridiculous macho dialogue. Alien is the superior movie by far, but Aliens was fun to watch.

Kudos to Cameron for not attempting to "out-Alien" Alien. Instead of a tense horror movie, he went for straight out action.

I liked them both. Two different movies that were good in their own way. I think we can all agree they were both better than Alien 3. If you want to read what a clusterfrick that movie was, look it up on IMDB and read the trivia section.
