A history channel production. London was bombed 57 consecutive nights.
From September 1940, the German Luftwaffe dropped some 20,000 bombs on the city, killing thousands, and leaving many more homeless.
Churchill refused to surrender.

It is insane what those cities went through during the Battle of Britain.

They would not have lost nearly as many troops invading England without total air superiority than troops lost invading Russia.

This is only true because Germany would have run out of boats to drown their troops in

The Royal Navy owned the seas, and would have sunk anything trying to cross the Channel. The Germans' only hope was gaining air superiority, and bombing those British cruisers. When they couldn't do that, they were never going to be able to actually mount an offensive.

Those going to the Eastern Front were fricked, but at least they had a chance at engaging the Russians in combat awhile.

The Brits also figured out a way to counteract the German magnetic sea mines

They were doing some severe damage to the Royal Navy and commercial shipping.
