So it is not for you but no need to get defensive about it. I just pointed out Reddit would not be a source I would use but in the end not every show is for everyone.

By the way what did you search, negative reviews? When I typed in Andor reviews, not negative or positive the first page came up with all positive including IMBD, Rotten Tomatoes, IGN, you name it. So not sure how you googled it.

Since reviews were brought up I will share a few that I agree with and support why I like it.

quote:

Reminds us of what Star Wars is about when you strip away the Industrial light and magic.

quote:

‘Andor’ delivers the kind of complex storytelling and visual flair that’s been missing from previous live-action ‘Star Wars’ shows.

quote:

In the end, Andor is less of a spin-off and more of a spy drama that makes use of its pedigree to tell a engrossing story. At its heart, it is a character study told on the backdrop of a revolution.

quote:

Andor, the latest iteration of the Star Wars franchise, was actually a good TV program rather than just fan service.

quote:

Each episode is committed to strong storytelling in the Star Wars sandbox, rather than recreating or relying on the nostalgia of Star Wars.

Again it is not for everyone.

quote:

Younger children could certainly be lost by the political machinations and backstabbing that punctuates Andor. Those who prefer a more simple story of good vs. evil, or greater emphasis on the magical and fantastical may also not have their particular itches scratched. Andor has no Jedi, the Force is nowhere to be found, and it tends to go light on the aliens and droids.

Star Wars traditionally falls more into the fantasy genre than that of hardcore sci-fi, but Andor reverses that. It turns the melodrama of a space opera upside down to show us what’s happening underneath. If a battle amongst the stars between oppressed people and a domineering government really happened, this is how it would play out.

I hope if you watch the whole season you enjoyed as much as I did.

very overrated. Especially on this board…still a lot star wars/Disney fan boy posters around

I'm just going to disagree with this.

Disney/Star Wars fan boys?
There's very little "Star Wars"-ish stuff; zero Force or Jedi/Sith involved. If you come from this show to the movies, you would be very confused at the additional mystical elements the movies have. Even Rogue One puts some in... this has nothing. It could literally be a prequel to Firefly, instead.

And there's also very little action for the sake of action, no random running around shooting at bad guys/stormtroopers, with no repercussion to it. Andor gets into trouble with the 2 Corporate cops in ep 1, one dies sorta crazy bad luck, and he makes the questionable moral call to execute the other to avoid being arrested. That's what draws Cyril into the tale; and Cyril's botched arrest effort is what pulls the Empire into it.

There's also no Disney tropes in play. No spunky little princess, cuteness, or anything else of that sort.

And I saw your (since-deleted) comment about Deep-state supporters...,
You do realize: most of what is going on at the higher levels of this show, is anti-"deep state"?

We have Mon Motha opposing the state in plain sight as a Senator, realizing all the while that is ineffective, and secretly pumping funds into hard-core opposition terrorists. Because she's come to the realization that it can't be changed or opposed through normal channels. She sells out her family to do so, to try to avoid being strung up for treason.
We have Luthen running point on the terrorist cells, pushing them into the necessary spots to cause a bigger break. And he also gives up a big asset, to keep things moving.

We see Cyril, who ultimately is just pushing for justice and order (he wants to catch the guy who killed a couple of his cops), - his life gets ruined for trying to do things within the rules. And the more he works within the system, the worse he makes things. And still, he simply wants to get Andor, who he sees as a murderous thug, not looking at the bigger picture.

Andor and Mandalorian are the best live action Star Wars things produced since Empire Strikes Back.
