Apparently Sanderson has made comments that he himself would cut parts of Stormlight for the screen including one large section of book 1 (I don’t know which)

Wayne alone makes Era 2 better than Era 1 IMO

This pretty much. Though I prefer the steampunk setting of era 2 as well (I'm a sucker for steampunk settings in general though).

I hope this does really well so we can see Era 2 on film. Stormlight is something that we be tough to translate to tv/film well, so we'll see on that. But Mistborn should translate really well to film.

They would really have to, way too much of Stormlight is so internal and introspective. Kaladin's storylines by themselves would have to be edited due to how repetitive they are.

Well thankfully it will be him making the cuts, not some random showrunner who thinks they know how the story should be told better than the author.

*cough* WoT, Witcher *cough*

Speaking of that, Sanderson has talked relatively openly of what he learned from Wheel of Time and how much he did not like that process. You could clearly read how much he disagreed with their choices when he visited the set in Season 1.

Apparently he’s referring to Khabranth. So Shallan, Jasnah, Taravangian might not even be in S1 of Stormlight.

When it comes to Kaladin, a lot of that introspection could be done with the right words and an actor with extremely good expressions.

Not going to lie, this has the hallmarks of being great. One of the biggest things we bitch about here is Hollywood writers, directors and producers fricking with IP to put their own spin on it so it's more a testament to their ego than to the IP itself. Rowling was able to keep that down with Harry Potter due to negotiating a contract which gave her unprecedented control of the movies.

It sounds like Sanderson's deal makes Rowling's look weak (and that's saying something).

If he's wanting to stick with ethnicities as close as possible to his books, it should be a minor thing with today's AI. Hell, I just watched a video of Tupac and young Bruce Lee hanging out in Cuba and it was flawless.

Is that the one where eating certain metals gives you powers? I read it years ago. Didn't know there were more than 3.

That’s Mistborn (sort of).

Mistborn has different Eras. You read Era 1.

Era 2 aka Wax and Wayne is a western (with Steampunk elements).

Era 3 will be called Ghostbloods, he is currently writing (well now taking a break for script writing) is vaguely 1980s era Technology.

There’s a planned Era 4 that will be full on Scifi.

I’m really curious to see how they portray the spren on screen. Especially the cryptics like Pattern.

Honestly I’d love for Mistborn to be a series, too. But I can see them working as movies.

Ok. Yeah I only read the first 3. I read them around 2010 and they didn't have the second era yet.

I want to see Steel Inquisitors in real life.

I’m excited about this even though I did not like Book One of Stormlight. I didn’t dislike it because of the story or the characters… I disliked it because I thought it was too much world building and flashbacks for me.

A quicker paced format like television could be just the trick for me. I’m in.

I mean I get why Sanderson does it thematically, but ya, her stuff can be a slog at times.

Hopefully they shave off most of the WOT storyline. Flying through history with a tether over and over just barely able to grasp reality and not get lost each time got old fast.
