I think Aquaman just solidified that we are going to get as many comic book movies as people can make soon.

Will people ever get tired of them is the question.

Glad it wasn’t just me. Thought the same thing. Black Manta was horrible.

Movie was just ok.

Black Manta shaking his fist and screaming Aquaman like Kirk screaming Kahn.

Australia opens today. Will crash thru $600M by THU.

Should be interesting to see how it does in Wan’s home country.

Saw it today. Loved it. It was the 2nd best DC film behind WW. Cheesy and campy which made it hilarious.

When Mamoa busts onto the sub, flips his hair, rotates his head to the camera and says, "permission to board" how do you not LOL

The outtakes have to be hilarious

I loved aquaman, even more so than WW. As long as the movie can own the cheesy moments I think it can work and for me aquaman did that. This movie could have been an epic DC failure but they finally came close to getting it right.

I’m with the crew ranking it between WW and JL.

Enjoyed it, cheesiness and all. I think Shazam will smoke Aquaman but that’s a good thing.

Did I miss something? Why did Orm get arrested or whatever at the end? What’d he do wrong? Was it killing the Fisherman clans king?

He hired Black Manta to attack the Atlantians and Dolph’s people.

Oh yeah, thanks. I know some are posting they were bored but I found it to be pretty consistently fun. I love a good adventure movie that keeps it fairly light.

It's passing Justice League today and will probably pass Man of Steel this weekend. It has a good chance of passing Wonder Woman but will have to get close to the 900 Mill mark to pass BvS as Warner's top film in the franchise.

I think that's a near certainty at this point. The question is can it hit 1 billion?

As much as a cheerleader as I am for the DC movies, I can't bring myself to say "An Aquaman movie will make a billion dollars". My brain still can't make sense of that phrase.

ETA: Now if it was a Nightwing movie...

This is why we can't have good movies anymore.

Saw it last nights.

My expectations: Previews looked good. BUT, it’s DC and it’s Aquaman.

Suntiger Review: Good comic book movie. If it was Marvel, I’d say it was an average Marvel movie. A little origin story, lots and lots of action. Decent villains. Good special effects and cinematography. Aquaman grows as a character and you end up liking him for it. Right on par with Wonder Woman IMO. (Better in some ways, not as good in some ways).

Overall, a good popcorn superhero flick. Not much more to it than what you saw in the previews. If you like the trailers, you’ll like the movie.

Also, I liked some of the lesser supporting characters. I didn’t know Lungren or Dafoe were in the movie, but I liked their characters. Nicole Kidman was ehh. Abdul-Mateen Was a good foil. I like Patrick Wilson and wanted more from him. Seemed a bit generic, but that may have been more his character than his acting.

With nearly $750M already in the bank, and more holiday business still to come this week, #Aquaman now seems very likely to hit the magical ONE BILLION mark at the worldwide #boxoffice by the end of its run. Will easily surpass BvS to become the top-grossing film in the #DCEU.

#Aquaman ruled the domestic #boxoffice for the 2nd wknd in a row and grossed $51.6M, down just 24% from its opening wknd. 10-day cume has climbed to $188.8M incl $24.8M (13%) from IMAX scrns. Shd crash thru $200M on #NewYearsDay.

I prefer Scott Mendelson’s updates on Forbes. He uses catch phrases from the Brave and the Bold cartoon, referring to everything as “outrageous” and “let’s call this one AQUAMAN’S ADVENTURE INTO THE FOREIGN MARKET!”

Nice that non-cartoon people just think that he’s weird.

The movie was awesome as evidence by its box office but Its like people in this thread are admitting it begrudgingly. It's as if it hurts them to admit dc made a fun movie in the same vein as a marvel movie. I thought it was fantastic, does it have some problems sure but its the ones every comic book movie has. If this was an mcu film I believe it would be in the upper 3rd for me.
