I just did a rewatch of this for the first time since it came out. I forgot how good it was. Some really great acting between Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges, and others. Cool story and setting. Good music.

I really don't think I've heard anyone mention it in 6 years. Give it a shot if you need something to watch.

I really enjoyed it but got too silly towards the end. Just felt like it had more potential then what it ended up being.

When I saw this thread topic, I remembered that I had seen this movie and had a generally favorable view of it - but I couldn’t really remember anything about it.

I went and read the plot summary on Wikipedia and said, oh yeah, that’s what happened.

To me that kinda summarizes this movie. It is entertaining and worth a watch, but it’s not quite good enough to be memorable. I love Jeff Bridges and the movie had some other good actors in it. So why wasn’t it “better”? My immediate thought is that maybe the writer/director was more geared toward a “high concept” than story.

There are certainly some movies I have appreciated more on a second viewing. Maybe this is the case with this one.

Solid movie. First half way way better than the second half

i enjoyed this one, but agree it tapered at the end. It felt like a Tarrantino and Coen Bros had a love child.

Goddard doesn't have a huge catalog but most of his stuff has been good.

Ending was kind of weird, but I enjoyed it. Hemsworth nailed his role.

Probably Dakota Johnson’s best acting role.
