I kind of dig Venture Bros too.
One of the most consistently funny shows on TV. They don't get enough credit... Largely because they are so sporadic in giving new episodes... Kind of like the Boondocks, which is another fan-freaking-tastic show. Uncle Ruckus (no relation) is one of the funniest characters on TV.

Also I still don't get the appeal of DBZ.
It may have been past your time. I started watching it when I was around 10, and part of the reason many of us still watch/like it is the nostalgia factor.
Speaking of anime...anybody seen Death Note?

Old school:
Jonny Quest by a freaking mile
(The voice of Jonny was Tim Matheson - 'Otter' in Animal House)
Looney Tunes/Bugs Bunny/Road Runner/Dudley Do-Right/Rocky & Bullwinkle
New school:
South Park
Family Guy
Beavis and Butthead
King of the Hill

I watched it when I was a junior in High School and fell in love with it.

For the folks listing anime, you really should check out Berserk. It would take the top spot for me if it had an ending. It ends the last episode on an epic cliffhanger. The manga still doesn't have an ending and Miura has been working on it for 20+ years with new chapters still coming out consistently.
Others of note not listed:
Samurai Champloo
Rurouni Kenshin
Neon Genesis Evangelion (the new movies that they are making are better imo than the original series)

DBZ came around right during my time. I just thought it was so fricking boring. I mean one punch per episode, the animation is terrible, the characters are ok, fights can go on for 20 god damn episodes, and you could miss 30 episodes and be caught up in a ten second summary.

Yes.
Main character gets a bit annoying.
Series goes to shite when they kill off L. Probably why they ended it 10 episodes after his death.

shite man. That ending is a big wtf

Considering they just increased his power repeatably for pretty much no reason, then yeah, I'd put him against Superman, but that doesn't make him a better or even good character.

South Park
Simpsons
Scooby Doo
King of the Hill
It's hard for me to rank these 4 though. I love them all and watched them religiously at different points in my life.

The dude consistently pushed himself beyond his limits. He always had a reason.
It was never just, "hey let's make him stronger just because."
I think plenty of people would disagree that he isn't a good character.

Don't forget Deputy Dog, Foghorn Leghorn, Speedy Gonzales
can't leave out The Jetsons
Meet George Jetson, ...Jane his wife, daughter Judy, ...his boy Elroy, Astro, Mr Spacely
to go along with Scooby Doo, Bullwinkle and Johnny Quest; Haji was the first middle eastern/Indian/whatever he was, person I knew.
Edited to add:
can't believe I left Yogi Bear & Boo Boo off the list.
Some people might remember not to trust Mr. Magoo from the movie Thunderhawk.
