All of the Romero movies (with the exception of the later flicks) were classics. Shaun of the Dead was awesome, so was Dead Snow. The opening of 28 Weeks Later was freaking intense.

I enjoy the original, Night of the Living Dead. I like World War Z. Zombieland is pretty cool. I watched Last Train to Busan not long ago and it was really good. I Am Legend is entertaining as is 28 Days Later.

Netflix has some good movies to put you in the Halloween mood. Train to Bushan, Dale and Tucker vs Evil (not zombie related), Tales of Halloween. There’s also “Raw”, haven’t had the chance to check it out but it got good reviews.

I always preferred the 1990 remake to Night of the Living Dead over the original.

Dawn of the Dead, both versions. I really liked the way the Ending Credits were done on the remake.

And another one i can't remember the name, but it's about these four zombies that don't know they're zombies, so the movie from their perspective is them acting normally and people tryijng to kill them, but every now and then it switches to perspective of them attackiing as zombies.

The most iconic will always be the original Night of the Living Dead.

But my preference for the best is the 1990 Night of the Living Dead. To me, it followed the same story as the original but made some necessary changes. For starters, Barbara was a much better character. Also, Ben's fate in the end was a more satisfying ending than the shock of the original. And of course, with Savini at the helm, the special effects were top notch.

My top 5 zombie movies would be:
1. Night of the Living Dead 1990
2. Shaun of the Dead
3. Return of the Living Dead
4. Dawn of the Dead 2004
5. Quarantine

Honorable Mentions to the original NOTLD, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Zombi 2, 28 Days Later, Re-Animator, Pontypool, Train to Busan, World War Z, Land of the Dead, and Diary of the Dead

If everyone had listened to Mr Cooper, they'd all be alive.

I don’t think “Dead Alive” has been mentioned. Peter Jackson did a damn fine job slumming it up before he hit it big.

Any zombie movie with Linnea Quigley, in her prime, dancing semi-nekkid on a tombstone wins.

Semi only because they had to... uh... glue a shield over a certain area since the character is supposed to be fully shaved.

That they did.

Combined with The Walking Dead Comic as well.

Not saying it is technically the best but Dawn of the Dead (78) was a huge influence on he genre and when seeing it as a kid was just awesome. As for more modern movies I would go with 28 Days Later. See Zombieland as overrated but with some great scenes.
