Has anyone been watching the Dallas tv show on Freevee?
Warner has spent a lot of money on restoring these and they’re gorgeous.
Fans of the show are able to see them in a better presentation than ever before.
Probably seeing the original 35mm footage would compare.

The show is epic in so many ways. I rewatch it often. Perfect 80s Time Machine too. And lots of hot things to see as well.

Everyone in America was watching it when it was on originally. It was that good.

I’m on season 7. Such a great show especially the first 4 seasons. I can remember being a little boy spending the night with my grandparents in the early 80’s. My grandmother absolutely hated JR

Started rewatching it a couple.of weeks ago.
It still holds up. An absolute classic
And J.R. made villains cool.

There were some very annoying characters. Sue Ellen was a blatant arse licker and Pam was annoying cry baby.

I’ve never bothered with any other soap.
I always thought that those ABC Spelling shows looked good, especially Dynasty. There’s something about that “look” they had.

One of these days I’ll try Dynasty and Falcon Crest.
I have recently watched season 1 of Dallas. That these song still pops.

And branch out to Knots Landing.

Still one of the great tv show themes...

When Dallas started in 1978, it's important to remember a few things:
There really hadn't been a successful nighttime soap opera before, except Peyton Place in the mid 60s, so it was groundbreaking, and copycats followed like Dynasty, Knots Landing (Dallas spinoff), Falcon Crest, etc.
Until the early 80s, only a small number of homes had cable tv so there were 3 networks. Dallas was the #1 show on tv by its second season.
Hagman's JR Ewing made being a villain cool.

Another classic cliffhanger that managed to wipe out an entire season and messed up any continuity with Knots Landing…

Watching this show hits way different depending on the viewer. It is nostalgia-heavy for those that grew up with it, often intermingling scenes with music, bars, clubs, fashion, brand names and imagery, everything. Everything.
But then there’s the constant underlying things. There’s constant trading barbs and insults and unintended funny or dumb things as well. This show has aged so damn well that its flaws and fails don’t fail, they’re funny and goofy.
And JR is so much worse than conceivable back then. Much.

Highly recommend. I started watching it and got addicted. The first 4 seasons are awesome television. Seasons 5 thru 10 are also very good and at times great.
Seasons 11-14 is where things tail off. Mainly because of stars leaving the show for various reasons.
JR keeps things interesting until the very end. There was also a revival in 2010 but I haven't watched it yet. Not sure that I want to. I want to remember the characters as they were in their prime.
Also, Victoria principal is smoking hot.

I used to watch with my grandfather back in the 80’s. He loved the show so it has special place in my heart. Watched some YouTube reels not long ago. May have to find the series and fire up a binge watch this summer.
