They addressed it, Harrison said something like “you knew he would run”. Basically Dex knew he would run when he discovered they found his trophy room.
It’s still a record of their crime. Dexter can’t know where those recording might go.

So the rich oil guy is just a red herring? Seems like he hasnt been around since episode 2 or 3.
I have a theory about him now.
So where Dexter first wakes him up to finish it off, he’s doing his routine. And then Kurt goes “ohhhhh yeah this was ALL me, just me”. I almost got the vibe that he was covering for someone else’s involvement in a bigger scheme. The work of getting and killing them seems to be all him….but…..I’m wondering if Kurt isn’t in some part doing that guy from the beginning’s bidding and was just trying to take ALL of the credit so no one would suspect his involvement. Because otherwise…there really was zero point to that rich dude in the very beginning.

I have to imagine the final scene this week will be Dexter getting fired from the fish and game store because he hasn't showed up for work for more than two weeks.

ETA: I also think it’s setting up that the serial killer is about to groom Harrison to be his protege rather than Dexter bringing him under his wing.
Just in here to admit that I was way wrong about this one.
ETA: The minor, and mostly irrelevant issue, I had was Kurt killing the podcast girl. I get why he did it, it made sense since she was kind of on to him.
But all of his other kills were runaways and strays. Easy for them to disappear without anyone knowing, or even caring, where they are. The podcast girl seemed to have a pretty popular show and probably would've let all her followers know where she was going and what she was investigating. Her disappearance would bring a lot more attention than any of her other kills.

Dexter was the first show I ever binged. I kind of lost track in the previous final season... Watching Michael C. Hall in that role is probably the most fun I've ever had watching an actor portray a character... But damnit, the way this season played out to the end, to me, was perfect. There was some cheese, and some plot holes, but the overall story of Dexter... no complaints, from me. They nailed it.

Same. Dexter is the first show I ever binged. I remember when it first came out and was all the talk and I just ignored it. For whatever reason I didn't think I'd be interested. Then I finally gave it a chance when it was nearing the end and I was immediately hooked. I could not stop watching it.
This new season was awesome, but I am still sad to see Dexter go. I think we all knew it was coming.

Sad day. Was hoping for Dexter to get away again.

Just finished. Damn, I can’t believe they actually killed him. I thought they wrapped it up perfect though. I feel like a part of my life just died, I’ve been hooked on Dexter for so many years. The finality just hit real hard.

Yeah i was hoping Dexter would show up in the truck as Harrison was driving away. Something along the lines of “we are more similar then you think” and then it opens up for new series

Seems pretty likely the show is going to end with Harrison killing Dexter.
I thought it was a nice touch in the beginning of the episode where the title "Sins of the Father" was floating in the river, and the word "Father" went down the waterfall and broke apart.

That redeemed lumber jack Dexter. I’m sad we didn’t get to see Angel confront Dexter though.

Agreed, that would have been awesome.

Nobody should ever be allowed to bitch about the ending to Dexter ever again. That shite was crazy.

Thinking back on the episode it was a perfect coda after Dexter's and Angela's pas de deux.
Breaking Bad taught use and Dexter stamped it the best way to finish a high tension series is to leave the main antagonist/protagonist dead and someone running.

Much much better ending. Definitely washed the bad taste left in my mouth from the original ending. Did Logan survive? I thought he was dead but when Harrison was driving through town it looked like they were loading someone into an ambulance.

Pretty sure they were loading a body bag in the ambulance?
The Dexter Subreddit is BIG mad about the finale. I understand some of the complaints (e.g. how did Angela know where they'd be in the woods, how did Harrison's rifle survive the cabin fire, etc.), but no matter how they ended it, they wouldn't have been able to please everyone.
