It was better than I thought it would be. I did a rewatch of the final season so maybe that kept my expectations reasonable though. I want to see Hanna too, but I could see them waiting until season two to bring her in.

So thoughts on tonight's episode?
Mr Krabs showed up that's cool.

Hanna is dead.

So far it hasn’t been as good as I was expecting. I’m already over ghost Deb yelling at him about being a psycho all the time. Maybe I’m giving the original version too much credit, but the writing and characters don’t seem as good this time around.

I'm really enjoying this season and reboot so far. I'm happy to see they're going to continue to explore Harrison and Dexter's relationship, and it'll be interesting to see if he has a dark side to him.
I love Deb's role in the show now. She's not coddling him like Harry did. Harry was a moral compass for Dexter whereas Deb is telling him he's repeating all of his past mistakes and people are going get hurt if he continues down this path.
I can't wait to see where the season goes.

Eh, that could easily be explained away by just saying Harrison lied and ran away. He might have any number of reasons for leaving.
If the season is successful and they do another season that could easily be a key storyline for S2, Hannah shows back up looking for both Harrison and Dexter.

I do too, but at the same time, I also agree with this:

She can be the anti-Harry without being a complete loony toon herself. I hope the actress reins it in as the season progresses.
Also, they’re doing a weird scary movie type vibe with a few of her scenes that I just find cheesy. Really hope they drop this going forward as well.

Theory:
Harrison's notebook of sketches in his backpack are his trophies. Those are sketches of people he's killed.

I like the show but ghotst Deb is way over the top. Especially if they keep this pace up of her berading Dexter like this.

Harry was Dexter's inner voice of caution and justification.
Deb is Dexter's inner voice of guilt and panic.

Deb was always kind of annoying, but yeah, they've taken her to a 32/10 on the annoying crazy bitch scale. Its jarring how bad it is.
Also, I'm not sure if its the writing or the acting but the laughably terrible, over-the-top "bad guy" from the first episode as well as Dexter's convo with Harrison from the 2nd episode
Harrison - "Why'd you abandon us Dad?"
Dexter - "I was afraid I would screw up so I bolted"
Harrison - "Gee ok, how about regular pancakes instead of blueberry"
^ I know that is oversimplified but it felt like they glossed over that waaaaaaaay too easily imo.
Still hope the show turns out to be enjoyable, but definitely not as solid as original seasons to me so far.

Any chance Harrison found the letter and found out Hannah had lied to him and killed her?

The show doesn't appear to be too deep so far so I'm probably misreading that whole sequence but it's almost like they are dropping a clue that's not really Harrison.
99.99999999999999999 percent chance that it is indeed Harrison and I'm grabbing on to a throwaway line about him not liking blueberries anymore as a sign of a deeper plot that doesn't exist.

I mean her character was pretty much a complete loony tune for the entire series.

Finally caught it last night… from the bad CGI, weak back story of 1st victim, obvious lack of gun knowledge, etc it’s obvious this will be more like the late seasons than earlier ones.
I’m calling it quits on this one.

And just "Who" does that female police chief remind you of?
Tall, thin, a cop, long hair parted down the middle???
Why, it's just Deb's doppelganger and a real live person in a position of power.
