There are more than just 2 opposing forces, so at times the story can get a bit muddled. But mostly it's pretty straight forward and if there's any question, you always just rewind and watch something over.
I pick up on stuff every time I rewatched it. Very much worth it.

What was the deal with the Indian character that got booted from the show?

Alex. Main cast member.

In June 2020, Alcon Entertainment hired an independent firm to investigate over 30 allegations of sexual harassment and assault made against Anvar.[13][14] In November 2020 Alcon announced that Anvar would not be returning for the sixth and final season of The Expanse.
Metooed.

This is a show I’ve thought about starting so many times but just never have pulled the trigger. I’ve heard it can be relatively confusing, is that accurate?
It can be but not too bad.
It’s Inners (Earth and Luna), Mars and Belters (workers across various space stations), locked in political strife and impending war. Within each there are those pushing for peace and war/independence.
The main cast is thrust into the middle of it all and trying to figure out the right thing and do it.
Then there is something else that comes into play.
But the show does a good job of introducing and developing the elements. A lot of the appeal is hard to describe once you’re several episodes into it, constant strife and tension but without feeling repetitive or shark jumping.

The first season has an arc that is so unlike most anything else in the show, but it kind of sets the stage. It is an almost campy detective noire-in-space plotline. Everything truly expands from that point forward (see what I did there).
Didnt hate the ending, just felt chopped in half and we never get see the 2nd half.
Instead of a rewatch I'll probably read the books once I finish the 3 other series I have ongoing

A great sci-fi series and not very confusing at all. You’ve watched enough TV to be okay I mean you like Fringe so you’ll be just fine

Just watched Season 2: Home. Dang, what an exciting, amazing episode. Has to be the best of the series.
Spoilers . . .
The Roci is chasing down Eros (which is hurling toward Earth) and Miller, with the protomolecule all around him, is stuck onboard Eros dragging around a nuke.
He eventually realizes the voice he hears is what is left of Julie Mao and he calmly settles her down for he has reached his journey’s end, for he deep down knows her (though they have never met). They share a kiss, and Eros crashes into Venus.
Deeply moving scene, wonderfully directed and acted.

I would suggest subtitles on though, especially in long scenes with the belters. They have really weird rough accents.

Awesome show. Watched multiple times, highly recommended. The books, too.

Bumping this since I've been doing *another rewatch due to this thread.
Once you get to mid-S3, you'll be blown away. It's amazing. Just great TV. The buildup is awesome in itself, but the payoff is some of the best ever.
For all the divide on "woke" whatever, the show has the strongest female, gay, whatever characters. It also has "white male villains" and "white male heroes".
I recommend this show to anyone, but also specifically to those that are looking for great content, but also would rather watch good stuff compared to shows they don't watch but complain about.
Also, if you have Amazon... The Expanse and Psych should just be on rotation somewhere. Just sayin'.
