Poltergeist
Trick R' Treat
Carrie
Tales of Halloween on Netflix is really good and would be scary for a 10 year old.

Does she have braces? Poltergeist 2 always stayed with me b/c of that one scene when the brother's braces attacked him.

I hate that Poltergeist clown from original. Messed me up for a while.

"A Nightmare on Elm Street" traumatized the frick out of me when I was 11 and I already knew the basic story going in.
Original, that is. Apparently -- and I stopped watching after a wasted 20 minutes -- the remake has Freddie as a child rapist rather than a child murderer, as he was in the original. I'm thinking that would violate your 2nd criterion.

The Exorcist (might scar her)
I'm thinking this isn't appropriate for a 10yr old... the ole insert crucifix here might be a bit much.
I second the original poltergeist.
Also I haven't seen it since forever but "something wicked this way comes" was pretty creepy but not sure how it holds up today. I think this was a Disney production also

True, but hey, I at least warned him, it may scar her

Candyman was the one that always got to me around that age. I made my parents turn the light on in the bathroom for me for a month after that movie
