frick? Did Lucious get bonked on the head or something and forget he grew up as the upper crust of Roman society. How does he forget who his mother is? Kid was like ten, twelve.

I love Denzel and he nails pretty much everything but having the "OOOOOk, ALLLLLright" in Roman times is pretty weird. It almost looked like an SNL skit

Denzel is probably the most based black actor out there. Openly a Christian and just a solid dude. I’m ok with the move. That fricking song though is a far cry from the legendary Howard shore score and Lisa Gerard

So Perdo Pascal is the good guy and Paul Mescal is the guy trying to kill him. Got it

The training day gladiator memes are already everywhere on the web.
yikes

Wait so that new guy was Lucius and not the emperor guy? How the frick does he forget his noble origin? Makes no god damn sense.

It's not being negative, it's being critical, which is, you know, what the entire film industry is based off of.
This film didn't need to be made. They decided to make it anyway and came up with a nonsensical story and a complete tone shift from the original film.
I love Denzel...in roles he's meant to play. This ain't one of 'em.

Morgan Freeman would’ve killed this role

It's based off people assuming something is bad before they see it.
Yeah, this is negativity. Critical discernment requires evidence. Assuming you know better than the filmmaker is not evidence. Assuming you know the story, even though the teaser doesn't make that clear, and assuming you know whether it makes sense or not is not evidence. Assuming Denzel is not right for this role based on a few out of context line readings is not evidence.
Not being interested based on concerns is great. Deciding something is bad because of uninformed and unproven concerns is very non-critical. Calling this "critical" is either stupid or dishonest.

well said.
And also now that he has declared it BAD before he has seen it, he will defend that statement regardless of if the movie is bad or not.

Oscar nominee Paul Mescal plays Lucius, the nephew of former Emperor Commodus and son of Lucilla, although he is unaware of his royal lineage. In the 2000 film, Lucius was played by Spencer Treat Clark and here, a fateful turn of events finds him becoming a gladiator like his childhood hero, Maximus.
Yeah I’m not sure where you got this summary from bruh the author of it is off base. Lucius is very aware of his lineage and that is one of the plot points for this movie.

People are sick of unoriginal movies. When gladiator was at its peak, there wasn’t a single person on the planet saying wow we need a sequel. It’s lame and everybody knows it

When Hollywood has installed her for so long.....
We've come to expect Hollywood doesn't know what the frick they're doing. Low expectations for all movies have become the new normal.

You and Jay Are deserve each other. You’re both like the fat fricks in WALL-E. You have no taste. You just consume.

Denzel being a great actor and Denzel being a DEI decision are not mutually exclusive concepts.
