yeah... would've at least given a reason for there to still be a Night's Watch

That was my initial reaction. But he was a Terminator who obeyed his queen. Without Dany telling him what to do, the only thought he's ever had for himself was to go settle with Miss Anday. I don't remember the name of the place she's from, but I guess that's where he told his guy they were sailing to.

That's what I said in the thread about "what would you have liked to seen"
Interesting hey had that idea and chose to cut it. It seems like such a slam dunk.
Having some suggestion of undead/White Walker activity north of the wall would have been awesome.
It keeps the north a mysterious and dangerous place and it also ties the entire series together beginning and end.
The first scene of the series was north of the wall with the white walkers after all.

I agree, maybe the night king wasnt the actual "king". Maybe just a top general type of role we just saw his initial creation, could have been more made on that tree.

Jon - got a new life..like the Truman show
Dany - took the throne
Tyrion - hand of the king
Davos - master of ships
Brienne- commander of the kingsgaurd
Pod - a kingsgaurd
Bronn - highgarden as promised (which services my fanhood)
Sam - grand maester..after not finishing his training.
I agree with some of these, but we have to look at both sides.
According to GRRM himself he told DD "the major beats" pertaining to main characters.
He said minor characters will have vastly different outcomes.
I think Jon, Sansa, Arya, and Tyrion will get similar endings. Everyone else got a fan service ending.
No way Bronn gets the Reach because their are other houses besides the Tyrells, etc.

They were sailing to Naath which is where Miss Andie is from and they talked about going protect the Naath people from slavery. The problem is, that island has butterflies that kill all outside people.

Bet after reading the internet roast him incessantly after this ending he changes it.

Giant letdown for me. I think I will look back on this season and like it more than I do right now, but this ending was just so WTF and very little made any sense whatsoever, that it may end up being one of the most disappointing finales ever. And I say that with very little exaggeration.
I won't get into specifics since I know they have likely been discussed ad nauseum, but that was borderline awful.
I will say they got a few things right though. Jaime's history with Brienne was a good touch. Arya off to explore (although someone should tell her that west of Westeros is most likely Essos and the Red Waste, unless they are all flat-earther types). Dany dying...had to happen, and it's good that Jon did it. Tyrion's redemption was not bad.GW going to Naath (although he should've died a while ago now). All the bullshite with Bran aside, I did like that they call him Bran the Broken now.
Maybe there are a couple more, but that's about all I care to remember at this point.
This should go down as a show that spent years (and seasons) setting things up that ultimately don't matter a single iota. It turns its back on things that it spent years harping on their importance. It is a great, great series that ends with a whimper. And that's okay, I guess. I just expected them to try harder and do better. Oh well.

Uneducated. Theyre called the 7 kingdoms because they used to all be independent kingdoms. Aegon The conqueror United them.

I would be fine Jon not being king and going north if they had given him a fricking choice in the matter.
For Christ’s sake he saved the entire 7 Kingdoms from what happened at King’s Landing when he killed Daenerys!
Bran the Useless will be the worst king Westeros has ever had, blee dat.

Don’t like that. Jon’s greatest achievement was saving the free folk. His ending was going with them to a now safe North as one of them, a new King Beyond the Wall.
The way they tied it together was the very first scene was in that forest on the edge near the Wall. The random Nightswatch guys are there and encounter the white walkers and die, minus the one that Ned executes. Then the final scene is Jon and the free folk disappearing into that same forest, and the kids are playing and have no fear of the white walkers

Tyrion will run the six kingdoms but get no credit as usual. He will fix things and Bran will be considered a great king.
Jon will be happier up north. I too expected to see some sign of the WW at the end.
Arya is apparently a master sailor too? She just gonna cruise around and kill some people while exploring?
Sansa is a bad chick. Queen of the north!

Night's watch has no purpose.
Oh, and I'm sure it's been mentioned in 41 pages, but when, in fricking 7 seasons and 5 episodes have we EVER had any indication that Tyrian gave the first damned thought about Bran?
They just basically had him reach up his own arse for that little speech

I think that’s the point. It was a wink wink nod nod to Jon by the council. The unsullied and Dothraki didn’t know the history of the NW but everyone else knew they were wiped out.
So they freed John to lead the widlings.

Except when he gave his homeland immediate independence so his sister could rule, that's cronyism if I've ever heard of it.

So the Starks literally rule the entire continent now?
The house with the most obvious flaws in Westeros ends up running it. Great lesson for real life tho.
As an aside, I've been a decent defender of seasons 7 and 8 but this episode was just boring to me, which I'm not sure I've ever said watching GoT. The sad thing is I feel like the Starks ruling all is exactly what we were all rooting for about the time Ned's head came off and then again after the Red Wedding, yet the path the show took actually made people groan at it and I understand why they are.
I will say this, I did like the scene of Brienne filling in Jaime's deeds. If you look closely it said that he became Kingsguard to Tommen after Tyrion had killed Joffrey. Nice little touch.
