Tyler Labine came back to The X-Files after 20 years and reprised his role of "Stoner" from season 3's "War of the Coprophages" and "Quagmire" He was the guy huffing spray paint
I believe both the guy and the girl were in those old episodes. I recognized them immediately.

This episode is amazing.

Fun episode. I always liked the stand alone episodes in the original series.

Enjoyed the episode. Recognized the stoner but didn't know why
I could get used to this being a semi-regular show.

For some reason I laughed when the lizard dude did a little skip step has he was running off into the woods there at the end.
And Gillian was a little extra hot tonight.

Mulder's look there at the end...I couldnt tell if it was disbelief or satisfaction

It's funny, there is about a 70/30 split for this episode. About 70% absolutely loved it, and about 30% thought it was the dumbest thing on television.
I thought it was awesome. So many call-backs to the old X-files. The stoners, Kim Manners, Scully gets another dog, Scully being immortal, X-files ringtone, Mulder sleeping in a red speedo. It felt like Jose Chung's From Outer Space on steroids. It could have used a bit of external narration that the character Jose Chung has in that old episode, instead of Mulder being the one to point out the absurdity, but still a well done episode.

I thought it was cringe worthy more than a handful of times. The end was great though. Seeing Scully's Cleveland though

This episode was written by Darin Morgan, same writer that did Jose Chung from Outer Space. He has a bit of a silly style that lightened up the show, that was on full display. I thought it was a hilarious episode. Everyone I've talked to thought it was a great escape for an hour.

It was good for a fun episode, but I think they needed to do another serious episode before they went silly. I'm looking forward to next week's. I also didn't like that they tried to explain away a werelizard as actually existing rather than being imagined since they could have limited everyone that saw him to people under the influence. One of the best things about the X-Files was how they often left you hanging on whether it was man or monster.

Seemed a little hokie but Scully 's cleavage took my eyes away from the forehead!
Lizzard dude was dressed just like Kolchak from the Nite Stalker

I think that this was our one fun episode for the short season. We only have three episodes left. Next week looks like a straight-up serious monster episode. That leaves two episodes, both directed by Chris Carter. The final episode has the same title as the first, so I'm guessing that the final two episodes will be conspiracy oriented.

I read that its 3 conspiracy and 3 monster.
So I guess it will come down to if episode 2 counts as a conspiracy or monster episode.
I could see that one going both ways TBH.

No way, it was a great tone. Fox is doubting everything he has believed in monsters and aliens. Here he has absolute proof of a real monster. That scene in the graveyard was the bomb. The entire role reversal of the monster being bitten and turning into a human was solid. The explanation of transvestites was hilarious (she hit like a dude!) The actor that delivered the monolog was spot on. It was enough to make Mulder drink! hahaha.

good, fun tv.
It was, except oh by the way there are humanoid lizard people that live on earth only we haven't seen them before because they hibernate for 10,000 years. Also if you bite them they can turn human. I'm just saying they should have found a way to work it all in while making us wonder if Mulder and everyone else imagined/hallucinated that a crazy guy was a monster.

The underground reptilian mythology is so ingrained in SciFi and paranormal lore now that I don't think they needed much more context. It was funny.

how is that any different than the monsters from the bulk of the MOW episodes?
they are almost always ridiculous and fantastical which is why Scully never initially believes they are legit.
there was even a joke from Mulder that directly referenced how she often would say things like "that directly goes against everything we know about the laws of nature" when he would try to make his case.

Put me in the "Dumbest thing on television" group. Everything was over-the-top campy, which can be good when it works, but this did not. Not for me, it didn't. Please stick to aliens, not reverse were creatures........
Terrible episode.
