Colin Farrell as Penguin in the new Batman movie was pretty impressive.

wtf that was the same actor actress

You can probably find great examples in this thread.

I'm not sure Charlize Theron can be topped.

Still Recognizable as Oldman

Would that really be a fair comparison if you are looking at still shots of Oldman and comparing it to BBT's performance in Sling Blade. There isn't a single still image from Sling Blade that if you put it on a forum that everyone wouldn't automatically recognize him. But when watching the movie, as you put it, he really disappears into the character.

When watching the movie, the same can be said for a lot of Oldman, DDL, Bale... roles. Whereas, if you look at an imagine of them without seeing the movie; you can simply easily say that's xxx

Edit: Outside of when they use obvious makeup, CGI, etc to change the look

Val Kilmer in Tombstone. I always wondered how long it must have taken him to deprogram himself out of all those mannerisms and the accent.

Johny Depp seems to a have knack for getting lost in his roles.

W. Earl Brown in There's Something About Mary

It took me years to realize Cameron Diaz's special brother was Dan Dority in Deadwood.

Overall I’m giving to it Bale. The amount of roles he’s dramatically changed his body is impressive.

The Machinist

American Psycho

The Fighter

American Hustle

Vice

Ford v. Ferrari

And three Batman movies

even though i dont particularly like christian bale you got to admire his dedication to his craft.

the number of times the guy has gone through complete body transformations under short time periods for roles is crazy. i cant imagine how wrecked his hormone system is.

Wasn't a big fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman, but his work qualifies.

I have to be in a particular mood to watch Matthew McConaughey because his alright alright alright schtick can be annoying as hell, but he really inhabited Ron Woodruff and did it so naturally that I didn't think about watching MM at all

ETA didn't see the post above mine

And just wanted to add with Billy Bob and Slingblade, if that movie and his performance hadn't been so incredible he could have made a complete laughingstock of himself and killed his career before it even got started. It took some big arse balls to make that film

He was pretty damn good in Bad Santa. All his character cared about was fricking hot girls and drinking like a fish lmao. Billy Bob Thornton really is the kind of guy you could have a beer with and talk about which women are the hottest and most frickable.
