Solid episode.
Definitely way too much M&L though.
I thought it was great until LIly's bullshite "Someone will die!" thing at the end. That ruined it a bit for me, so it went from great to just solid.
This entire episode only forwarded the plot like thirty minutes or so.

Lily has been a shite wife/girlfriend to Marshall for a long time it seems. Though Lily used to be fire back in her day, Marshall needs to upgrade.

Yeah I really wish they would get this over with so we could spend time with Ted and the mom dating. I'm sure they can can come up with some stupid Mosby moments with her.

You're most likely not gonna see that.
I don't want/need to see that, but I'd at least like to see her a fricking little bit here and there. She was in like the first two episodes and then nothing. And I get why (because it is moving forward so slowly, so she's not at the hotel for the wedding yet), but it was cool seeing her and Lily interact and get along so well...I'd like to see more of that with the others.

That's the thing though, she and Mosby are apparently perfect for each other...so all the classic Mosby shite won't be classic Mosby with her; it will be shite that she loves.
But again, we're not gonna see much of that anyway. The show is how I MET your mother, not your mother and I's relationship.

Didn't they say at the end that the mother would make an appearance next week?

I believe so.
Lily is one of my least favorite characters on the show and her scenes with the mother were pretty good.
I think Barney/Marshall/Robins will be even better. I'm assuming that is the route the show is going (showing each character meeting the mom building up to Ted).

I don't remember, but at the beginning of the season, did the narrator, at any point, say to the kids "And that's how Aunt Lily met your mother.."?

Thats how it will end. Ted literally meets her.
Whats been disappointing is that I thought they would use more flashbacks/flashforwards to let the audience see her. The best part of this season by far was the scene with her and Ted at the Inn. More of that (plus the Knight), less melodrama with Barney/Robin and Marshall/Lilly
Based on how lazy the writing has been (OLD PEOPLE, STUCK UP PRIEST) Im half expecting them to do an episode with the characters just sleeping in their rooms

also, what was up with lily's reaction to marshall telling her about the job.....seemed completely out of place
Lily is a bitch.
Point of order, Marshall is the settler, Lily is a dirty rotten reacher.

I think he did.

It does kinda seem like they are just seeing how many different "hijinx" they can get the cast into. I mean, so far this season has advanced a few hours basically, and random things just keep happening to everyone (Ted meets chicks and has to choose, Barney's brother divorce, old people show up [OMG!!], priest being a dick...and then dying, whole melodramatic setup with breaking into Lily's room to delete the text, etc.). Especially with Barney and Robin...they shouldn't be still trying to shove them being a good fit for each other down our throats at this point this close to the wedding...but every episode has them doubting their entire relationship only to have their little "Awwww" moment. That's annoying.

I think I read somewhere that we are going to see some of the relationship after they meet, so we can see how perfect Mosby and the mother are. That may have changed since I read the interview, but I don't think the series completely ends when they meet.

There is pretty much zero realistic way that all of these events transpired in the timeframe they're portraying.

Definitely agree.
I'm not going to completely shite on the show, because I still watch it every week, but the laughs are few and far between. Most weeks I've found myself watching strictly for plot advancement with no actual expectation of comedy.

Exactly.
How many times can they rape the audience with, "Look at how perfect Barney and Robin are..."
then,
"Are they really made for each other? Will they end up with each other?"
then,
"Yes, look at how perfect they are because of random deus ex machine romantic gesture/word..."
Rinse & Repeat.
Though, I am in til the end too.

Their awwww moments have not been them realizing they are perfect for each other, it's been when they both say the same bit of horrifying dialog usually about doing something evil to someone else. That's the running joke. that they saw awww over truly horrifying things.
I will also freely admit I'm a Robin/Barney relationship fan.

Just checking in. I've been a fan so far this year, but I thought last night fell flat. Most of the jokes seemed too telegraphed or just didn't resonate with me. Also, it's pretty fricked up that Ted made Lily break a (presumably) expensive cell phone, then 10 seconds later the problem is resolved by marshall talking to her. Now, a)Ted has used his 'no questions asked' for nothing, b)Lily is forced to buy a new phone, and c)Marshall has used 3 'no questions asked' with each of them resulting in nothing.
I will say, that I hope they keep showing Robin in that white dress, she looks a lot better in that than she's looked the past few seasons IMO.
And I agree with everyone, I'm ready to see the mother again dammit. I thought we were going to see a bunch of shite from throughout the series from her POV, near misses and whatnot. So far we've seen practically nothing of her.

The relationship doesn't bother me.
Them constantly questioning it gets tiresome, though. Especially when this is all supposed to be happening in one weekend.
