They got too busy to get married in a foreign castle and riding off into the sunset in a hot air balloon. Ted holding out so long for the wedding he's been planning since he was a 3 year old girl seems about right.

On a side note, F Robin. She is more selfish than Lilly.

I don't get this thinking. At all. Ever since I've been in HIMYM threads (the last four or five seasons I guess), people have been HATING on Robin, and I don't understand why. Sure, she's kinda annoying sometimes, but she's far from a worse person than Lilly. Lilly is a straight up horrible, selfish bitch...and at times a horrible wife as well.

Robin isn't anywhere near as selfish or bad of a person as Lilly. Not even close.

Exactly. No way Ted would wait that long to marry her.

They wait, what, 7 years, and then end up not doing it? Again, the character of Ted that they portrayed does not get too busy when it comes to love and romance. I understand calling off the first wedding, because of the kid, but come on. This is the hopeless romantic Ted we are talking about. He would have made it work. It wouldn't just be swept aside.

It would be considering he was just marrying his side piece consolation prize. Thank God she died so he could get back to Robin

True. The Ted we've known the last 9 years, after Tracy told him at the bar that she was pregnant and wanted to delay the wedding, would have made shite happen and gotten married the next weekend.

I hope that puke emoticon means you had to puke after typing all that

Yes, I realize that is what the episode basically did.

Lies on floor. Tries not to cry. Cries a lot.

Yep. He got a entire blue orchestra to ask Robin out. The way they did this, really did make it seem like marrying her just didn't matter to Ted. She was just his baby momma.

I'm just disapointed that they didn't show Bob Sagat murdering Ted and banging Tracy to say, "and that's how I met your mother."

Would have been the best ending to a show in the history of TV.

Robin's at her best when she's the butt of jokes, either as Robin Sparkles, her comically bad news career, being excessively Canadian, etc. The last few season's have often substituted embarrassing Robin for Robin yelling "PATRICE!!!!" or being on an emotional roller coaster of mad/happy over Barney.

Yeah. The whole Patrice story-line was never funny and should have been canned soon after they tried it.

This. Just paint the wall with his fickle arse and show any one of those women what a real man feels like.

That's because one of the few things they got right in the last season was making the Mother perfect. I was actually upset that they didn't give her an emotional exit in the last episode because I thought she deserved it. The actress did such a good job in her short screen time in making the viewer fall in love with her character.

She was the best thing to happen to the show this season. She made the wedding bullshite bearable. She resurrected the show all on her own. That La vie en rose was amazing. She was too good for the ending they wanted to do, they shouldn't of made the mother that good just to get rid of her that easily/quickly in the finale.

The mother was basically perfect for Ted. She was as quirky and liked the same inane bullshite that he liked. And she met each of the group members individually and they all liked her (before she and Ted met).

And if you watched this last season, they set up a LOT of things taht ultimately werne't important at all or didn't matter to anybody really. For example, the entire season was literally the weekend of Barney and Robin's wedding...so every episode took place within a span of like 50-something hours. And ultimately, they ended up divorced anyway. We saw Ted still have massive feelings for Robin several times that last week prior to the wedding, and then finally meet the mother, only to have th mother die off and him end up with Robin in the end. It was just sort of uncomfortable and weird.

it seemed like the writers looked up and said "oh shite, this is the last season, we need to write an ending!!"
