I had completely forgotten that "The Crow" opens tonight

I don't see any marketing for this film. It appears that the studio just gave up on it. Anyone watching it?

If you’re wondering why reviews haven’t dropped for Rupert Sanders’ “The Crow” reboot … we’re currently under embargo until tonight 7pm ET, which is just after Thursday previews begin. That’s a sign of no-confidence on the part of Lionsgate. Expect the worst

There was a thread a while back. The early screenings killed any hope this film had. Not that it had any. Rebooting a cult classic film that only achieved that status due to the unique film making of the time it was released and the death of a beloved actors son on set was a masterclass in film producer executive retardation

I'll just watch the original again.

The little bit that I saw of previews didn't look terribly promising. And I don't exactly have confidence in a guy like Rupert Sanders to do that kind of production well.

I think you could do it but it'd have to be someone with bigger chops than Sanders producing AND it'd have to take an actor that could really fit that role.
I like Bill Skarsgard, but he's not it in this one. You can't really sell me that he's Eric Draven/The Crow. He just looks extra methy here.

You could do it. And no matter if you got Nolan to direct and Jesus to play the crow it’s still extremely disrespectful to Bruce lees son and deserves to fail.

The previews look like shite.

Naw just the hottest and likely best director working I could think off immediately to make my point. Which was no matter who is involved in the project it should be given immortal reverence for what happened on set and be allowed to stand own its on for what it is as a representation for its place in history and a fan base forming around and uniting through tragedy

Eh, you could still honor Brandon Lee's performance in the right way. I don't think the property all together should be off limits because of his death.

Not everything need to be remade and rebooted. Some things are and should be held as sacred.
You want to milk the property? Make animated shows or comics. The live action film should remain untouched and untarnished

If you’re making Jesus the actor, why not make God the director? Hence Nolan being God… never mind.

We can agree to disagree on this one. A reboot/remake doesn't quell my enjoyment of the original property or my experience when it came out in theaters.
Especially one that is based on an original property (in this case comic book) that isn't the movie itself.

It got crushed in early screenings.
Who is this movie for?
Its impossible to top the original with all of the stories involved in the making of the film.

I found the full plot to this online a few months ago, and it seemed so, so bad.
Spoilers if anyone actually cares
Eric looks like a junkie in this because both he and Shelly are junkies and they meet in rehab then escape together to go continue being junkies. She's alive in this one for a much larger portion of the movie.

Novel thought...
Locate a talented writer with an intriguing graphic novel. Cast a young, charismatic up and coming talent and lesser known but capable director. Put together an atmospheric, action packed film driven by one of the best popular music soundtracks ever compiled.
None of the above required "repackaging" or "reimagining" a beloved "property" that already has multiple bad sequels. But that's not modern hollywood, so... DRAIN IT DRY!
