Jack wasn't exactly cut out for menial labor. I'm guessin.

He was strong enough mentally and physically to ride the stern of the Titanic down to the water and then find a means to survive - but instead chose to freeze to death so Rose could live.

He could probably handle some tough work with a family depending on him.

He had little choice. Free wheeling Jack may have dropped Rose like a bad habbit rather than work in a freaking coal mine.

Is there anything he does in the movie that would suggest this is likely?

in fairness rose married and had a family and lived happily in cedar rapids iowa, she described her marriage as a good marriage to a good man. although she never talked to her husband about jack. cal killed himself in 1929 after the crash.

Rose really is one of the worst people in film history.

Wow, you're serious about this fake character stuff, huh? Something about it hitting too close to home?

As stated above, he's a drifter, a traveler. Drawing French whores and hopping from cargo ship to ship, as the work takes him. He may settle down for a bit, but there's no reason to believe he'd relish a back breaking job like coal miner of all things, even to appease Rose.

Further more, his skills would be wasted in a mine. He'd likely end up traveling out west, dealing in beaver pelts and end up getting mauled by a grizzly.

After Jenny, I'd have to agree.

Yeah, the pursuing of someone else's girl. Clear sign of low character.

The only thing that video needed was her mom sewing in a factory.

Yes and make it a good 30 second clip to really let it sink in.

Or maybe a brothel.

1.) Cal did look for Rose on the Carpathia to get his coat back.

2.) If he still had the diamond at the time of the ‘29 crash he may not had to have done that deed.

3.) Jack may have been resourceful but they would have ended up on a farm in Oklahoma when the Dust Bowl comes through.

Well, I have been to all 50 states and over 50 countries on six continents and made a lot of sacrifices to do it - so I get Jack’s adventurous spirit - but I could switch gears and live the family if I had chosen a different path. No reason to think Jack couldn’t.

Who would? But you do what you have to do.

He didn’t look hard (probably understood her odds of survival were very slim) and didn’t find her, so it stands to reason he wouldn’t have found “them” and retrieved the diamond. Considering the last time they saw Cal he was shooting at them, I imagine they would have kept an eye open for him.

Considering the time period and what historical events were on the horizon, she probably wouldn’t have lived an ideal life with Cal or Jack without the diamond.

But since she likely would have possession of the diamond in either scenario, that would help a lot. Rose wouldn’t be so sentimental about it if Jack were alive and I bet she would have gladly cashed in on it.

I love how the epilogue just glossed over that

“Cal killed himself when he lost it all while I kept his priceless diamond necklace” should have been the more appropriate telling

Would like to see the version of Jack getting a plant job and Rose being the drunk wine mom hanging out with Jack and his buddies watching the Tigers in a suburban, DR Horton garage on a Saturday night in Prarieville.

While a POS, Rose was the smartest one on the ship. She knew there was enough simps in the world and Cal was a ticking time bomb. She could make her mistakes with Jack knowing she had the diamond as insurance. Look at her face in the mirror when Cal puts it around her neck. She never had to use it because she killed Jack and met the simp in Iowa. Pussy is undefeated.

We forget Rose was 14 so it's obvious that Jack was gonna end up on Epstein Island, or back in Chippewa Falls.

I'd like to think that Jack survives and goes back to Europe, he befriends a young artist and he had Adolf Hitler have wacky adventures.

Where one of her below whores gets cut up by a John and corrupt sheriff gives him a bare minimum punishment.

Decent chance he would have found his way back to Europe drawing pictures….

In a trench on The Western Front.
