It’s sad that Alfonso Cuaron didn’t direct/write the last three Harry Potter films

They almost certainly could have gotten him and had him film the final three movies (The Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2) simultaneously like Lord of the Rings to get a consistent narrative going. But David Yates fricked up HBP so much that he had to remove the best scene that should have been the tone of the entire movie:
They deleted it because it violently clashes with the rest of the lovey dovey bullshite silliness of the rest of the film, when it should have been exceptionally dark. And save for this Slughorn scene it was all shite. Best book of the series that easily was the worst film in the series.
Like what is Ron’s relationship with Lavender remotely relevant in the final two films? What is relevant is Voldemort’s backstory, which they remove almost all of it. They got Draco right in the film, but quite frankly they should have sidelined Ron and Hermione for a movie and made it centrally focused on Harry, Dumbledore, Draco, and Snape with Voldemort’s story being in the background.
Deathly Hallows Part 1 probably would have been similar as released and I know this is unpopular, but I liked that one.
But Part 2? It’s great until the final act where Yates was clearly a pussy and surrendered to a producer that was a retard. Absolutely ruined the ending to the series where Harry throws Voldemort off of a roof and was exceptionally stupid. The ending should have had the tension and subtlety as the Showdown in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. But naw, frick that! That’s boring and the idiot plebs won’t understand that. Have Harry and Voldemort fly around the castle and then kill each other where no one else witnesses it.
But Andrew Yates is a whore that will film anything he is requested to film. The “Fantastic Beast” movies are proof of this and the fact he hasn’t made shite outside of the Harry Potter franchise since. It’s a real tragedy Cuaron wasn’t given the final three films, be

Half Blood Prince and Goblet were the worst book to movie adaptations. I actually think that Deathly Hallows 1 is the best one. Not the best movie, but very faithful to the book.
I get why they ended the HBP movie the way they did. It wasn’t the type of movie that built up to a big battle. Having more of an in and out made more sense after viewing many times.
Leaving out Voldemort's backstory was a disappointment for sure when we saw the movie in theaters.
I’m not sure their particular reasons, but that scene may having given away too much. Rickman already showed a lot of conflict on the tower when he death cursed Dumbledore. Having that scene would’ve left no doubt that he was doing it unwillingly.
While I’m not sure if Voldemort and Harry circling for what would’ve been like five minutes of dialogue would have worked on the big screen, I hated the way they did end it in the movie. And completely changing the ending with respect to the elder wand served no purpose.
Also, Lavender was nothing more than a plot driver to get Hermoine and Ron together.

I dunno but now it's fun to point out Lavander was a always played by a black actress right up until they made her Ron's love interest.

Didn't stop them from letting the audience know Barty Crouch Jr was a bad guy from the get go in Goblet.

Really?
I wasn’t even aware that she was in the movies until the Ron/Lavender relationship.
Interesting.
Also, the Ron/Hermione relationship is the worst thing that Rowling did.
Ron was such a bum.

est of the film, when it should have been exceptionally dark
I’ve read all the books and yes the books mature as the series moves on but you gotta put all this in context. The movies are marketed as the height of family entertainment and something to bring the kids to that you will also enjoy.
Complaining about a movie that people will take their 7 year old to because it isn’t “exceptionally dark” is kind of silly.
The books naturally force a kid to wait to a more appropriate age because they increase in breadth and depth past what younger kids are naturally going to read.
Parents and kids are going to pick up a 2000 page book in the bookstore and realize…maybe I should wait a couple years

Imagine thinking about this a decade later
Guess it’s payback for all the gingers that were erased and replaced by black people in film

I'm sure there was massive backlash for the people who hate race swapping characters for no reason. I mean they always say they would hate it if a black character was replaced by a white character. I'm sure they backed that up.

Does she have spoken lines or is this a situation where a “background” character is credited?
It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movies.
This is also the first time I have even heard of this.
Looks like the character was played by two different people prior to the ginger.

Yeah, that was the worst butchery of any of the stories because they reveal from the very first scene who was behind it and the second Mad Eye Moody makes an appearance you know it’s Crouch Jr impersonating him. Completely butchered the mystery in that book which was the best of the seven book mysteries.

It is the second worst IMO, but you can definitely make a strong case for it being the worst of the eight films.

The later films are all PG-13 though. And yes, Harry Potter gets extremely dark towards the later books and even films.

Are you saying the “mystery” is the best or that the book is the best?
Because, given any little bit of thought, “Goblet” is the dumbest of the books.

Watched it before reading any of the books and it is my favorite, read the books and can understand how you would be pissed off if you read the book first but in my mind they are two separate entities.

Best mystery in any of the books. I was clueless on that one on what was actually going on and was very surprised. I was thinking Bagman was behind what was going on at Hogwarts.
If I had to rank the books generally it would be:
1) HBP
2) DH
3) GoF
4) PoA
5) OotP
6) SS
7) CoS
