1. Ole boy hates fans of the first film and part of him doing this one was to "stick it" to them.
Is this true?

I'm very surprised that Zaslav signed off on this

Phillips had a lot of influence on it as well. I really don’t know what brought him to think that a musical would be good for a sequel. It baffles me

My son went and saw it last night at an advance screening. He loved the first one and didn't like this one. Said the movie wasn't cohesive and couldn't make up its mind what it wanted to be.

Did he see it at a film festival?

I swear if a huge portion of the movie is just his imagination I'm going to throw a beer at the screen.

don't waste your beer but...

“Joker: Folie à Deux” takes the Rob Marshall “Chicago” approach to musical numbers. They take place mostly inside Arthur and Lee’s heads, representing their inner worlds better than their actual circumstances can. Arthur sings at least one song where other people can definitely hear him, and it’s a lot creepier in person than it is in his brain. The whole approach strikes an obvious but effective contrast between Fleck’s reality and his inflated image of himself as an entertainer.

Reviews I’ve seen are saying it has one of the worst endings you’ll ever see. A couple said worse than Halloween Ends which I find almost impossible.

We’re you able to see it? I’m pretty sure all of the screenings were in California

It’s been a recent trend for films with IMAX releases to release one showing early for “fans”. I saw Dune Part 2 the Sunday before its official release at my local Regal

Todd Phillips’ musically infused sequel Joker: Folie à Deux opens this week and is currently not expected to emulate the business of 2019’s Warner Bros movie Joker, which ultimately wound up as the second highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time at $1.07 billion, scoring 11 Oscar nominations and winning two including for Joaquin Phoenix as Best Actor.

As for the sequel, so far worldwide looks better than domestic at $140 million, with a now lower-projected $55M-$60M at 4,000 U.S. theaters with all the tricks of Imax and PLF screens. The original domestic forecast was at $70M+ when it hit three-week tracking.

in the first film, JP’s Joker was so weak, dysfunctional and “crazy” it is very hard to imagine the character making a pivot to being cunning and organized

Leto’s Joker was just an overacting mess of BS, not to be taken seriously

HL’s Joker was scary and crazy and brilliant, you believed he was effectively a cult leader for zealouts that wanted to destroy the establishment

How many people will blame Lady Gaga for what sounds like a writing problem?

Apparently her role is very small, so I doubt she gets blamed for anything. A lot of her scenes from the trailers got cut. I really don't understand why you would hire Gaga for a musical and not give her a large role?

I never thought we needed the 1st movie. But I saw it anyway. Very impressed.

Read that again. Yes, I saw The Joker. And I liked it.

But as I'm seeing reviews and posts from others who have seen Joker 2, it's sounding more and more like an unnecessary sequel that we really didn't need.

Like Blade Runner 2049. Which I also refuse to see. Because the original was just that good.

So now I was planning on seeing Joker 2, I'll probably pass on it.

Pity.
