Look at that, critics are out of touch with what the audience likes. Shocking
Currently sitting at #2 behind the original Jurassic Park for best audience score

Saw it last night it was ok. Special effects and Dinosaurs were awesome but storyline was kinda boring for the first 30-40 mins. We saw it in xtreme experience in 3D and great surround sound and it definitely didn’t disappoint in visual and sound but like I said storyline was meh. Great seeing all the original cast back together also. Overall I give it 6/10

You do realize that audiences and these same critics were both in unanimous in praise of Top Gun: Maverick, as well as numerous other movies?
Kinda hard to argue that the critics are “out of touch” when they so often agree.
I saw it last night, and from my perspective, those who were enjoying it were enjoying the Sattler, Grant, and Malcolm reunion more than anything.
Edit: I lean sorta halfway between audience and critic opinion. There’s a lot of fat in the movie that could have been cut out to make it better. But as is, there’s 1.5 hours of real drag, and the dinosaurs jump scares get kinda repetitive. (It seems like a dinosaur was jumping out of the bushes every 3-5 minutes. Eventually, it became predictable...then it became absurd.) But there’s maybe 40 minutes of genuine fun.

I’ve said this countless times on this board - critics score is ONLY a good measure to go by when it lines up with audience which is always a better measure.
If an audience score is good, the movie normally is and vice versa. This is not universal but much, much more commonly in line with what I and the general public think of a film or show. There’s also significantly more audience than critic reviews.
The same is not true at all, and often the complete opposite of critics. Idk why anyone would defend them, they can be quite pretentious and give poor reviews to really fun films just because they’re “not art” or some such drivel, and give great reviews to films most viewers really don’t like for various reasons.
When both are in alignment it’s very telling. Like Maverick or No Way Home which got rave reviews from both and are legitimately great films. Conversely, Jurassic World 2 had bad reviews from both and is a terrible film. Worst in the franchise.

I didn't care for the 4th one and didn't see the 5th. Im going to see this one mainly because my friend is paying for the tickets.
You think you’ll be able to catch much of the movie with your face in their lap the whole time?
Haha.

Saw it last night, went in with low expectations and was still greatly disappointed.
Spoiler**
Too much focus on the human characters and not enough dinosaur action.
Dinosaurs roaming the world and the greatest threat to humanity was….giant locusts.
Relied too much on call backs to the original.
The big bad largest land predator ever is killed by a giant chicken with long fingernails.
Just terrible all the way around.

The giant chicken had help from T-Rex
My wife and I saw it today on standard format. I thought it was ok; wife thought it was good.. Some humor and references to prior movies.
CGI was hit and miss IMHO. Predictable at times.
Reasonable summer fare esp as a matinee.

I don't believe it. Every JP movie has been a little preachy.
Don't mess with nature just because you can.
* “sexism in survival situations”,
But at least in JP, those moments of preach are brief, and they move on.
I'm still mixed on watching it though.
*See how long this chit has been brewing in Hollywood? It's not new.

Crichton was pretty “preachy.” All of his stories, save for The Great Train Robbery (although I might have missed something) are inherently Luddite in nature.
Edit: The reason why JP (1993) just “moves on” from the preachy parts is that Spielberg knew better to adapt the book as originally written by Crichton. For anyone who has not read the book, if they had made a more faithful adaption of the original book, there’s no way in hell Ian Malcolm would be considered fondly by audience. He was a pompous a-hole and mouthpiece for Crichton. You would have been glad they he died as Crichton originally wrote the story.

We took our son to it today for his birthday and were disappointed. It was just a jumbled mess.

Crichton was very intelligent. And despite his dire warnings about messing with stuff we don't know well enough about; he was very keen on the scam that is climate change.
He didn't buy into it, one damn bit.
From Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park to Timeline, he's always delved into the unintended consequences of 'discovering' new things in the world.

Couldnt have summed it up better. Considering what they had to work with, budget, old cast reunion, dinosaurs EVERYWHERE ON EARTH ..
They dropped the ball. Could’ve been amazing but was just okay (and I love these flicks)

Saw this last week.
This movie was incomprehensibly stupid.
Also the dinosaurs were tertiary.

I enjoyed the part where the 100# woman pulled a 200# man out if a frozen lake.
Also the old blonde haired woman reminded me of christine blasey or whatever.
