Turns out everyone calling DC stupid for starting with a massive venture were dead on
I too would’ve preferred solo movies first. But OTOH, maybe DC figured the Flash has already had a TV show but Aquaman and Cyborg were too unknown to start with solo movies. Now that they’ve been introduced, maybe their solo movies would be more popular.

what did everyone think of Bro'd out Aquaman?
Posted on 11/17/17 at 8:16 am to Sentrius
Did anyone else find it funny that they cast the head of Cyberdyne Systems of Terminator fame to play Cyborg's dad?
As for the rest of the movie, I liked it. It was a bit choppy here and there, but really fun. Felt like they gave every character a chance to shine.
Also a good job having the characters do their roles right. Wonder Woman and Aquaman fighting Steppenwolf while Batman and Flash took care of the parademons (Batman should never be going toe to toe with anyone with superpowers). Then when Superman comes in, him and Flash saving the civilians. Perfect.
Happy to hear that more people liked Aquaman. Hopefully this movie gives him enough buzz to make his solo movie successful.

Nah...I think WB decided they were going to be the anti-Marvel and start a different way so as to not be called copy cats. I don't think it was any more involved than them REALLY not wanting to take the time to build the universe before getting th their team up, because by today's release date, we've now seen Marvel have 2 straight up Avenger movies, plus CW and nearly all others with a bunch of crossover.
I'd have loved for them to just take a breath, allow for the fact that Marvel beat them to the punch BUT have faith in their IP and allow it to speak for itself and roll out their big guns in the way that would build their universe the best it could be. DC's characters are good enough to have caught up easily if allowed to be done right from the beginning.
Won't get there this weekend...probably next Sunday. Slightly more optimistic after reading Sentrius' post, though to be honest, I think he may have given it a 5 had Cavil not given him an erection or something.

we need an Amber Heard mermaid solo film?

Glad to hear, for the most part, that everyone is giving this credit for being a step in the right direction. Gonna try to see it this weekend.
How were the Flash scenes? Similar to Quicksilver in the X-Men movies or did they give him a unique style?

More FOX Quicksilver than CW Flash. But only a couple of scenes where things "froze" while he moved around. It's not as impressive as Quicksilver, but it works really well.

with as much great source material out there for DCEU, the failure of the studio to accurately bring that to the big screen is astounding. it is good to hear that they at least got the characters right in this. sad that i have to hope for better in the future instead of being pumped about this tho.

How this is currently a 38% and Iron Man 3 was a 79% is idiotic
Gotta look at metacritic. It's a 62. Which tells me that a lot of critics felt the way I did about IM3: it was nice to see the pompous prick Tony Stark laid low and made human, to develop a love interest that felt organic, and to show that Stark is really deeper than Iron Man, but the third act is complete schlock and the Pepper Potts saves the day and Mandarin twists felt cheap. It was a pretty enjoyable movie until the 3rd act, imo.
JL appears to be unenjoyable except for some charismatic acting.

I loved this Aquaman. Very entertaining, not overbearing trying to be the bad boy, and not doing cheesy stuff like calling sharks to come bite the bad guys. Great casting.

I like Cavill too but not as much as Sentrius.

I like him as well, I didn't think he had to do much in this one. Just kind of went through the motions

Wonder Woman still takes over any scene she is in.
Amen. I called this one "Wonder Woman and a Bunch of Other Dudes". Wasn't a fan of Dudebro Aquaman, and I didn't get Steppenwolf. At all. Not having a compelling villain is a gigantic strike in my book, especially for comic book movies.
I loved the new Flash, and I honestly don't mind Baffleck. Dude needs to stop eyeballing Diana, though.
Does anyone know if the plan of the story was originally to have WW "lead" the group, or was that retconning at its finest since her movie kicked all the others' collective asses?

Btw... her in that little shawl/robe thing while she was talking to Bruce

I can’t take my eyes off her in any scene she’s in. And she gave me a semi.

2nd Update, Friday midday: It’s still early and right now Justice League‘s Friday, including its $13M last night, is between $36.6M-$38.5M. At the top end, that’s $300K higher than Wonder Woman’s Friday and she was boosted by an $11M Thursday night. This puts Justice League around $97M+ per industry estimates, far lower than the $110M-$120M on tracking. Some analysts are seeing lower because Justice League‘s morning sales weren’t as robust as many expected.

Unbelievable if this movie doesn't hit over 100 million in the opening weekend.
It needs to clear at least 600 million to break even. It will probably get that.
Aquaman has already been made and Wonder Woman was a huge success. The franchise is fine. But this may go down as a bomb.

Warner Bros./DC’s Justice League made $13M last night per Warner Bros., which is where some of our more aggressive box office analysts saw it. Previews began at 6PM. Last night’s take is higher than the $11M minted by Wonder Woman before earning a $38.2M Friday ($103.3M opening). Based on these estimates, the notion is that Justice League could fly to a $110M-$115M start and a possible $37M-$40M Friday.
